Chapter 8: Trust is Formed
"Just one problem." I frowned.
"Oh that's right, I noticed your arm is broken, how did you brake it?" Thomas asked me.
"Well... It's a long story." I frowned thinking back to the dull hospital ceiling I woke up to that morning.
"I love hearing stories" he said cheerfully.
His face lit up as I told him about my most favorite foods Collie had served.
Gravity soon pulled the edges of his mouth downwards forming a frown as I told him how I had found Collie that morning.
An expression that included sorrow and anger filled Thomas's face as I told him everything about Jace.
"Those are all the reasons I ran away from home" I admitted, letting out a long sigh.
"Oh, I'm really sorry" he said studying his feet. "Sometimes life is like a lifeless meadow, no sun, no horizon" he whispered, the poetry rolling off his tongue.
"What is that suppose to mean?" I asked dumbly.
"It means sometimes life feels pointless and dull" he spoke with kind words.
"I'll show you how to shoot an arrow" he said interrupting the poetic moment he had made just moments ago.
"Just pull back the arrow like this" he spoke with a calm voice.
"I watched him carefully as he pulled the arrow towards himself, then he let it soar through the air.
A loud cut in the silent air echoed in my ears.
The arrow he shot with his wooden bow had made it half way through the tree it hit.
He smiled at me proudly, I was glad I started to trust him.
------- Three Months Later-------
Thomas and I had grown to be the best of friends, including Hunter of course.
It was the night of the full moon and I was glad to be in the forest, where the stars and the moon shined brighter than at home, well, my old home.
Thomas led me to a tall rock that had a perfect view of the moon.
He placed his warm hand on mine and I didn't mind it... In fact, I turned to face him and realized he was facing me the whole time.
I leaned in closer and could feel his breath as he cupped my cheeks with his hands and touched his lips to mine.
