"I don't need him to protect me," I told Chelsea what took place, then was later joined by Sammy.
I was beyond upset. Anger boiled deep in my system, as hot as lava. It churned from within hungry for destruction, and I know it was too much for me to handle. The pressure of this raging sea of anger will force me to say things I don't mean or to express thoughts that are better off being suppressed. Chris really had some nerves.
"I know you don't wanna hear this right now but I think it's cute," Chelsea said, I squinted my eyes wondering if she had smoked pot and it was still in her system, did she hear her self?
"Cute? He doesn't want me but he's gonna chase someone else away that I might have had a shot with. I'm gonna let it rest because when school starts I'll see Quincy, I'm pretty sure Chris doesn't go there" I said prepping myself looking over at Sammy hoping she'll confirm.
"They all go to UCLA just Quincy I know of that goes to Stanford" she confirmed which was interrupted by a knock on my door. I lowkey hoped it was Chris coming to apologize; that would allow me to be free of the many emotions that plagued me. Instead, it was Bree, Daniel, and Joshua.
"I'm actually leaving now, you still wanted to ask me that thing you mentioned earlier ?" Joshua asked I shook my head saying no, he opened his arms for a hug which I gave him then we exchanged our goodbyes.
"We actually heard you and Chris in fact pretty sure the entire community did just want to make sure you were okay," Bree said, I looked over at Daniel whose eyes were busy roaming my room.
"Well, I'm just here because I don't know if you mistakenly took up my watch not calling you a thief or anything but that watch is a tuition on my wrist, so I'm gonna look around." He said as he began scanning my room. I wasn't even going to get into it with him so I allowed him to do his thing so he could hurry and leave.
"Thanks for asking Bree but I'm good" I gave off a small smile.
"Chris had asked me earlier to tell you how much of a bitch Quincy is but I just can't. We dated for a short time and I never told them the real reason why we broke up. Christopher who already hated him thought it was his fault. For what it's worth Quincy is a great guy and you have my blessing if you guys do start dating" she sweetly smiled, I had to judge her for a moment as I noticed the relationship between Joshua and Quincy who are cousin. Real classy Brittany.
"Oh I almost forgot he had put two and two together and realized that you hang with us so he asked me for your number" she cheesed, I looked over at Chelsea who had on the 'what are you waiting for' face.
"232-555-0125 you can give him" I smiled feeling so much better. I can finally apologize for Chris behavior and thank him once more. She texted the number before leaving.
"See everything worked out" Chelsea pointed out.
"I mean I'll always root for you and Chris but Quincy is okay too" Sammy added.
"Whatever" I laughed heartily since I was feeling a lot better.
"Well I got plans for later so I'm gonna head out now bye love," Sammy said then left.
"So you wanna do anything tonight your days are running out, wish you could stay and never leave" I whined, Chelsea made my time here feel so much better.
"I was actually thinking of transferring from NYU after my first year if that's possible to Stanford I'll just have to work my ass off," she said as she got off the bed and started going through her clothes.
"But isn't your mom against you being too far away from her, I'm surprised she even allowed you to visit" I chuckled.
"Mom will have to understand I'm getting older and I need to start living my own life," she said firmly. Chels mom sometimes scared me to death but I know Chelsea will stand up to her she had more balls than I do when it came on to these things.
"I was thinking we could go shopping tomorrow and get our hair and nails done you know some girl time because in the night we are going to somewhere special.I have tickets to a show, you won't believe who we'll be seeing. It was supposed to be a secret but you know I suck at that"
"Chelsea stop playing! Who?" I think I know which concert it is but it was nearly impossible.
"Who's our favorite 80-90s boy band of all time?!" She squealed as she flashed the tickets she had to pull out from the pockets one of her jeans.
"CHELSEA STOP PLAYING WITH ME! You got tickets to see—
"NEW EDITION" we both screamed together jumping around in circles. Chelsea and I weren't into the music of our time we love everything from the 80s to 90s the music, movies, the fashion everything. That time period just looked amazing. It was an era where men openly expressed their feelings in songs instead of disrespecting women like these artistes today. I've always wanted the love like the ones I'd hear on a 90's track or to have the feeling they openly expressed. New Edition has been our favorite group with hits after hits and now they were coming together putting on a concert for their fans after so many years.
"Girl I'm sure we'll be the youngest there but I don't care I'm gonna get to see Ralph and Ronnie oh my God my heart" I was still in disbelief I never thought we would actually get to go since the tickets were sold out weeks ago.
"Ronnie aged really well he could like get it but you know Ricky and Mike are my favorites, I had to buy tickets from someone. It was twice the original price but it was worth it because I got backstage passes for us" she cheesed.
"You are the world's greatest best friend I love you," I said giving her a tight hug almost squeezing the life out of her.
"Just don't expect a Christmas gift cause I emptied my bank account" she nervously laughed.
"Now I got to come super hard for your birthday since it's right around the corner there's no way I can top this unless I'm gonna ship mike and Ricky to you". I sighed
"You know anything will be fine this isn't a competition," she said as she paired her phone with her Bluetooth speaker. Shortly Mr.Telephone Man by NE was blasting through the speaker filling the room with good music.
"Mr. Telephone man there's something wrong with my line when I dial my baby's number I get a click everytime" We held our phones to our mouth pretending it was a mic as we started to pretend we were them and gave the furniture in my room a performance of a lifetime.
"This song gets me every time like this girl stayed dodging his calls and they were so oblivious to it," Chelsea said as the song came to an end You're Not My Kind Of Girl instrumental began to play. We got into position trying not to laugh, we knew the routine by heart.
We danced and sang lyric for lyric. I was so excited for tomorrow I'm going to be such a kid and not sleep tonight. "Remember the NE posters we ordered off Amazon you still have yours," she asked
"Is that even a question it's in my suitcase I'm bringing it so my babes Ralph and Ronnie can sign of course Johnny and the rest can too but my babes come first" I said whipping my hair giving my flirty smile
"Girl bye" Chelsea laughed as she reached for my pillow throwing it at me.
My phone buzzed I looked at my lock screen and realized it was text from Quincy.
