He felt the slimy object disappears and his world seemed to fall apart.

"Don't worry, you'll be safe in... in vault 14."

Winter stood in front of Fantasy's 'chamber'. She was alone as the night shards had gone to rescue Maxon from the others. She placed her hand on the glass smiling softly at the peaceful, stress-free expression Fantasy wore.

"Hey, Fantasy? It's been really hectic this week... do you think if I hadn't come to the orphanage this wouldn't have happened ever?" She questioned sadly.

Silence answered her, as she slowly slid to the floor as she closed her eyes.

The wolves wandered in hearing her voice through the empty vault.

"Damn... is it me or did I soften up or something? Before I was violent and would haven't thought so deeply about anyone but now..." she sighed hugging her knees to her chest.

One of the wolves whimpered nudging her.

Tears filled her eyes as she tried to keep her breathing in check. Her hands became clammy and her head pounded from earlier. She had passed out but woke up after half an hour. The night shards had been very reluctant to leave her alone in the vault but she convinced them she would be 100% safe and wouldn't go out of the room. She hadn't told them about the wolves, she didn't want to in case they tried attacking them or eating them.

"leave and I will rip you to pieces do you understand?" The night shard growled as they left to retrieve Maxon.

She nodded waving them off.

She shook her head letting out a watery laugh as the tears began to pour down her face like rain from a cloud.

" I can't protect anyone from," she sobbed into her knees," anything! I'm so useless I can't even use my gifts for good."

"Hey look what I can do Winter!" A young Fantasy giggled as she was balancing a spoon on her nose.

"How are you doing that?! "Show me!" Begged Winter as she leapt to the spot beside Fantasy memorised.

She chuckled to herself remembering stupid happy little memories from her fun-filled time at the orphanage when she wasn't causing fights. She could remember acting like a kid but it was crowded with other twisted memories. The wolves seemed to lighten her mood up a bit.

"Hey! If you could do anything what would you do?!" Fantasy laughed hanging off of a branch.

"To be God! Imagine! I could solve all the worlds problems and, and do anything!" Winter giggled jumping up to her swinging towards another branch.

"God I was stupid, still it was fun while it lasted..." she smiled to herself as the tears slowed down.

She sighed wiping away the last of her salty tears as she glanced around the room. Wires lay around, scattered like leaves in the wind. It reminded her of Fantasy, always drawing or trying to build her mastermind evil robot that never seemed to work as hoped.

It gave her hope that maybe, maybe one day they could go back to that time and just mess around instead of being forced to act older than they are.

"I'm only like 15, this week has been hell. Is this what high school is like?" She questioned trying to imagine herself in a fancy school uniform.

"Maybe when we can get a break from fighting against evil antagonists we can go. Ah, that sounds neat." She laughed shaking her head.
