"It's time for you to go and claim that man as yours!" Vrinda's sisters yelled with excitement. Vrinda just laughed at their excitement and got up to finally walk down that rose petalled carpet that would lead her to Arjun.
As soon as she stood outside the door of the hall, she braced herself and told herself that she doesn't have to be nervous about anything.
"Everything will go perfectly well. I don't need to worry about anything. I just hope I don't ruin it."
Then the doors opened and all people stopped talking to look at her. Her nervousness took a whole new level but as soon as she locked her eyes with Arjun, all the nervousness that she felt before, vanished completely. They both looked at each other and she saw Arjun just staring at her, dumbstruck.
She slowly approached Arjun who put out his hand for Vrinda to hold. When he pulled her up on the stage, he whispered in her ear,
"You look so beautiful baby."
Vrinda blushed at his statement and replied, "Thanks. You don't look so bad either."
Arjun and Vrinda both sat on their chairs and did their normal rituals of meeting all the guests and taking their blessings.
"Is it just me or are you hungry too?" Arjun asked Vrinda.
"Shut up, Arjun." Vrinda said while glaring at him but continued to smile at the guests that came up to meet them and take pictures with them.
Once everything was done, the two rings were brought up from both sides of the stage. On one side, Vrinda's sister stood, holding the ring for Vrinda to put on Arjun while Arjun's best friend stood on his side, holding Vrinda's ring for him.
Their rings were placed between rose petals. They both looked at the rings and then at each other. Their eyes glimmered with love and excitement. It was finally happening, this was it. One move and it would be official. They would be official.
"Are you ready to do this?" Arjun asked as he took her hand into his.
"Yeah, I kind of have to be. I mean, I can't say no to you now. There are so many people here. It'll be embarrassing for you." Vrinda spoke trying to hide the laughter behind her serious voice.
"What? That means you were considering to back out?" Arjun asked, hurt.
Vrinda just laughed at how easily he could be fooled and said,
"Of course not. I am just messing with you. Relax."
"Thank God. Not that I would have let you go but you almost gave me a heart attack there." Arjun said, keeping his hand over his heart.
"Stop being dramatic." Vrinda answered before Arjun's best friend spoke,
"Guys, you know that you can talk to each other at all other times, right? This is not the last time you are meeting. Get it together and just go for it!"
Vrinda's sister added to this and said, "You really want to behave like teenagers here, when the whole crowd has their eyes glued to you?"
That seemed to break their little bubble and look around to see that the crowd was waiting for them to go ahead and exchange their rings.
Then they picked up their rings and Vrinda put the ring in Arjun's fingering with the sound of cheer and whistle of the crowd.
Their eyes sparkled with the growing love that they had for each other in their hearts.
Arjun, before putting the ring in Vrinda's hand he whispered in her ear again, "There's still some time to think. You're signing up for something really big. Are you sure?"
