Arjun reached home in a good mood, still replaying the conversation with Vrinda over and over again in his mind. He couldn't wait to tell his parents and tell them to ask her parents for her hand for him as soon as possible. But the only obstacle was Arjun's father.
As said earlier, he was a stubborn man and was very hard to convince. But nevertheless because Arjun's love for Vrinda was strong, he was ready to face all challenges that were coming as speed breakers in their life. He loved her way to much to let her go.
Arjun waited eagerly for his father to come home. He wished his father to be in a good mood so that what he planned to tell him could go the way he wanted to.
Arjun went to his father that evening, mustering the courage to let him hear what he wanted to say to him. He told him genuinely what he felt towards Vrinda and hoped that he would accept the decision that he had made towards the future of his life.
"Dad, can I talk to you for a second?" Arjun asked nervously.
"Yes, son? Tell me, what is it?" Asked his father while he was sitting in his rocking chair and listening to the news.
"I, uh, like a girl. I met her at the bank a few weeks back and I really want to marry her." Arjun said directly.
His father looked at him, without speaking anything. The television filed the silence in the room. After what seemed forever to Arjun, his father turned around, shut the television and spoke,
"Are you sure? I don't want you to regret this decision of yours in the future. What you are telling me here is that you want to marry the girl, which means you have to spend your entire life with her. No backing out. Are you sure you want to go for the long run with Vrinda?"
"I'm positive. She is the one dad, I can feel it. I've never been more sure about anything in my entire life." Arjun said.
After narrating the whole story to his father, of how he exactly got to know her and how he asked her to marry him but she said that his parents would have to contact her parents for anything to happen between them, his father didn't say anything and simply nodded and went away. All Arjun could do now was wait, wait to hear a no, wait for a yes, wait for an absolution.
He wasn't able to sleep that night because he could still feel Vrinda's presence around him. The reason why Arjun had mustered the courage was because he hoped that his father would agree to what he said. When his father nodded after Arjun told him everything, Arjun's eyes gleamed in hope even more...

Next day, where Arjun went to his office for work, his father decided to tell his wife of the conversation that he and Arjun had the other day about him marrying Vrinda.
"Honey, where are you?" Yelled Arjun's father.
"What is it? Why on earth are you shouting?" Spoke his mother, entering the room.
"Arjun talked to me yesterday." Said is father.
"Wow, but I don't see what is so exciting about it. He can talk to you. He is your son." Spoke his mother with sarcasm dripping from her words.
"No, I mean, he told me that there is this girl, Vrinda, who he wants to marry. I swear that the way he was telling me about her, it seemed that our boy is completely whipped."
"Are you serious? What did he say? What is she like? I'm sure she'll be a sweetheart." Exclaimed Arjun's mother.
"Yeah, I'm sure too. But, the problem here is that he said that he tried persuading her to go out within to get to know him but she said that we'd have to go and talk to her parents before tome runs out." Said his father.
"So what are we waiting for then? Let's go as soon as we can." Spoke Arjun's mother, excited to finally meet the girl who managed to impress his only son.

Arjun's parents decided to go to Vrinda's parents to ask for her hand for their son. They reached her house and rang the doorbell. A minute later, Vrinda's mother opened the door, wearing a suit with an apron over it. She didn't recognise the guests so she spoke,
"Hello. I'm sorry I don't recognise you."
"Actually, we're here to speak on behalf of our son. He met Vrinda in the bank and told us that she was a very homely girl, so we have come here to ask for her hand in marriage for our son, Arjun." Arjun's mother spoke smiling widely at Vrinda's mother.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't know this. Please, come in. Have a seat, I will be back in a minute." Vrinda's mother spoke and rushed out of the room to call her husband.
Vrinda's father was sitting in the bedroom and reading the newspaper when his wife entered and said,
"My dear, there is a couple outside. They have come to ask for Vrinda's hand in marriage. Come on, let's go meet them."
"Okay. Come on." Said her father.
They both entered the room a few minutes later and then started discussing the details of the notion of their children's marriage. After a long hour of discussing the various cases, Arjun's parents got up, thanked Vrinda's parents for their hospitality and then left for their home.

A few days later Arjun went to his office and as usual couldn't concentrate on his work. However hard he tried, Vrinda's thought kept distracting him. This had become his routine in the office, to work with lesser attention span and focus more on the thoughts of Vrinda.
When he came back home in the evening, his father told him that he had gone along with Arjun's mother to Vrinda's parents and they had asked for some time so that they could ask Vrinda of this relationship. Hearing this, Arjun's eyes lit up with excitement in anticipation of the answer that he was about to hear.
Unable to control his excitement anymore, he asked,
"So? What did they say? Yes? No? Maybe?" Arjun enquired.
"Look, I don't want you to feel bad about this but..." Arjun felt his heart stop with the tone his parents were using."
"But what Dad? Is it a no? You can say it." Arjun spoke, clearly dejected.
"But what I wanted to say was that your days as a bachelor are over. Vrinda has said yes to the proposal. You will get married to her." His father said.
Arjun, who was fumbling with his hands and who was prepared to hear a no, stood completely still after hearing the words coming out of his father's mouth.
"Marriage? Like 'marriage' marriage?" Arjun spoke, his mind only focussing on the thought of Vrinda being by the die of him for the rest of his life.
"Yes, isn't it what you wanted?" Asked his father, looking over his shoulder to see his wife with amusement in his eyes and then mouthing, "I told you, whipped."
"I did. I mean I do. I mea-" Arjun's father chuckled, patted him on his shoulder and went away, slowly speaking in Arjun's ear,
"Pull yourself together boy. You don't want to be seen like this before her when you take her out, rightfully this time."
Arjun cleared his throat and then nodded his head. He couldn't fathom any words at all.
The word 'marriage' got stuck in Arjun's mind like glue and he just couldn't calm himself anymore. He jumped, screamed, and did all those things that stereotypically a boy is not expected to do.
He just ran towards his father and stood in front of him. When he didn't sense any objection from his father's side, he went straight to him and hugged him very tightly to thank him and let him know how happy he was today!
"Alright, alright. Go get a grip on yourself." Spoke Arjun's father.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Arjun exclaimed.
"Go. Just, go." Arjun's father laughed and pushed him out of the door.
"I'M GETTING MARRIED!" Arjun yelled and rushed out of the room.
