15. The faces in the mirror

Lookin at herself in the mirror
Drawn to her face
She sees different faces
Some looking familiar
And some looking like strangers she is yet to meet
She saw her younger self
Not knowing what's coming to her
Not knowing what's to become of her
She saw her bubbly, loving, caring self

The cute little thing
She didn't see it coming
The hurricane she was to become

Standing with a cute little dress,
Smile as big as her pitch black afro
She didn't deserve what's coming to her
From the girl who cried for her cousin because she had pink eye
To the girl in the mirror with black jeans, black shirt, black jacket and boots with a scarf around her neck
In a hot summer's day
She didn't care what people said
Looking in the mirror,
She tried to understand what happened the past years
And she still couldn't come up with an answer
All she knows is that she changed
All those years felt like a blink of an eye

In the blink of an eye;
Her smiles became fake smiles
She became closed off
She became numb
The talkative girl became socially awkward
She found it hard to make friends
And all she wanted was be high;
Laughing and crying...artificially
Looking at all the faces changing rapidly gave her a headache
So she looked away from the mirror
And left to her happy little pill
