Challenged

Chapter Eleven

Ashton's P.O.V.
I hear voices speaking. Machines beeping. Soft breathing coming from next to me.

I open my eyes and and Adeline cuddled up in my neck holding on tightly to my shirt that I'm wearing refusing to wear a gown.

I look foward to see Floyd talking to the doctors.

I tried to adjust myself but failed letting out a groan as I do so.

Floyd turns to me quickly, a worried expression on his face.

"Are you okay Ash?" He asks.

I nod amd wait for the doctor to either speak to me or leave.

Adeline begins to move trying to adjust herself and I let out a light groan.

She wakes up quickly and sits up, looking at me worried.

"Did I hurt you?" She asked.

I shake my head.

Why are they acting like this? I don't want to be treated like some glass doll.

She gets off the bed slowly and sits on the chair next to it.

"When can I leave?" I ask looking at Floyd.

"Tomorrow." He responds.

"Why not today?"

"Ashton please, don't be stubborn, not now." He pleads.

We all stay silent.

"You're going to be staying with me for a while. The doctor said your going to need someone and I'm one of the one people you have. I'll talk to my boss to see if I can switch my shift to nights we'll make it work." He looks at me.

"You live in the frat house Floyd." I reply.

He looks down and sighs.

"I want to be in my apartment. If I can't do shit then I want to be in my apartment." I say sternly.

"Ash, I have things to do at the frat I can't be in two place at once. Who else is going to do it?" He sounds like he's getting fustrated.

I look over to Adeline who's just setting in the chair legs crossed, staring at her hands.

Floyd looks at her as well and that's when she looks up to us.

"Me?" She questioned.

I look to Floyd and he answers for me.

"Only if you want to. You don't have to."

"Okay." She nods. "I'll do it, this happened cause of me." She says low looking back at her hands.

I raise a brow and look at Floyd. He shrugs.

"He Floyd can you um get me some ice chips or something. Bring Adeline some food too please." I speak.

He nods and gets the hint that I need to speak to her.

"Adeline."

She looks up at me.

"You don't have to do this. I know you have something going on with Calum and I don't want to ruin that." I say low looking away from her.

"You're such an idiot. Really Ashton? I told you that I wanted you! Not Calum you! If you don't want me to do it just say that. If you don't want me here just say that and I'll leave, simple as that." She stares at me and I still don't look at her.

"I didn't say that I didn't want you to do it Adeline." I sigh and look at the celing.

"Then?" She quedtions angrily.
