In The Eyes Of A Legend

My Pokegear starts ringing as I open my bleary eyes, the obnoxious Pikachu Song ringtone blaring as I groan. I pick it up, still lying in bed. "Hey, this is your mom."

"Mom! How's it going?" I ask, trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Great. We're all cheering for you, sweetie! Oh yeah, I got an item for you. It should be waiting in the nearest Poke Mart." She tells me.

"They don't have a Poke Mart in Cianwood. Just a little pharmacy."

"Oh... Well, you'll get it when you go back to Olivine. Okay, bye!"

"Bye!"

She hangs up. I sigh with relief. It's nice to know my mom remembers me.

I head outside to discuss the battle plan, only stopping to get on a bathing suit (one piece) and to get a nice, big breakfast. The pancakes are just off the griddle and are warm and mouthwatering. Even better is the ludicrous amount of syrup I pour on it. Some falls on the floor, and Dill licks it off the chair. I have fresh fruit for the others, some Oran Berries and a couple of Pinap. They're delicious to me, and even better to my famished team.

I head out, my team running at my side. The beach is warm and sunny, but we have work to do. Brandishing a piece of driftwood, I tap lines into the ground, drawing lines to show our battle plan. "Okay guys, today we take on the fighting gym. Sky, Khrys, you guys have Flying and Psychic moves, which are super effective, so you'll be helping a lot. However, we're going to rely on pure power for this one, and that means Bronze."

The strategy was a good, solid one. It was half because I knew it would work and half because I wanted Bronze to feel better about not being used much.

"Are we going to do any training?" asks Dill, raising his tail.

"I guess, why not? We don't want to go in underleveled. Especially not after... what happened to Hershey."

Everyone hangs their heads in memory of our fallen comrade. From afar, I hear a call. "HIMBAYA!"

I swing my head to see that up above, staring down at me, is a blue Pokemon unlike any other. It's like a Vaporeon, but with a beautiful purple mane flowing in the wind, and white tails flow out towards it's forepaws. It's Suicune again.

I immediately pull out an Ultra Ball, but Suicune regards me with it's cold but powerful eyes. The wind blows, sand blowing into my eyes and wiping away our battle plan.

Ashley... you have grown closer to Celebi... beware, your power will only increase. Suicune tells me, beaming the thoughts into my mind.

"What?" I yell, over the sand. "Beware?!"

Lilly's thunder crackles and Bronze's fires erupt. They're ready to defend me. My eyes flash gold as the sand swirls faster, and I cry out in pain as Suicune flashes to me. A million images shoot by in a minute, all too fast to comprehend. Power. Loss. Pain.

The sound of a bell, tolling six times.

Dong.

Dong.

Dong.

Dong.

Dong.

Dong.

Silence.

My eyes close as I see the majestic beast run off across the water, which splashes up in great arcs in its wake.

Why me?

Something's changed. I feel Celebi's power now, closer than before. Time slows down and speeds up quickly, like an unsteady breath. Time, I discover in this strange new part of me, overlaps with space. The two bend around everything, stretching ever so slightly. Spacetime falls into a gaping black hole around me. Uncontrollable.

I am a monster, a human with the soul once held by a god. Silver soul. Golden heart.

Bronze is there, but I see him differently now. "Ashley, please be okay?"

His eyes, too, are flecked with gold.

The rest of the team is normal, except for Lilly.

Her eyes are gold too.
