Jacob's POV
"It's not just me right they're keeping something from us" Seth said as I open my locker.
"You really need to let that go dude" I said to him
"Come on Jake things have been different since Italy" he said.
"Yea we were all almost killed by some crazy witch and Ness actually was. And I think she's doing pretty well for someone who died" I said.
"I remember what happened Jake it's just-"
"Look if they're keeping something from us I'm sure they'll tell us when their ready" I said.
Seth sighs in frustration I feel his pain, I get where he's coming from things have definitely been off. But it's not like there's a manual for this type of thing, I mean my girlfriend died and then came back to me. That's bound to have some type of affect, but she seemed pretty normal at least for the first week after we came back. Then she started acting weird, she got all dodgy and basically moved into Stef house.
I want to ask her about it but I don't want to upset her and if I'm really being honest. I don't think I want to know, and that probably makes me the worst boyfriend ever. But I'm pretty sure that Ness would tell me what's going on if it was serious. So until she's ready I'm not going to push.
"You don't want to know do you?" Seth said almost like he can sense what I'm thinking.
"Don't be mad" I said to him
"How could you not want to know Jake?" he said as we walk to our first period class.
"Because if she doesn't want to tell me then I don't want to know" I said
"Why not?" Seth asks
"Maybe because I'm being selfish" I said Seth is quite for a minute.
"I guess know what you mean, things have been pretty awesome this past year" he said.
"So you see my dilemma" I said Seth looks conflicted. "Whatever you have to say Seth say it"
"You aren't scared that whatever's going on with our girlfriends isn't going to make us... you know"
"What break up? No! Look whatever it is it's not that serious" I assure him
"Serious enough that Ness feels like she has to keep it from us. And if you don't believe me then answer me this. Since when does Ness lie to you?" he said.
What Seth said stays in my head all day. He's right Ness tells me everything but whatever's going on with her now she's hiding from everyone except Stef. And Alec come to think of it, he lives with Stef and he probably knows what's going on with her. Another reason to hate the guy.
"Hey what are you thinking about?" Seth asks. The day is over but since the girls had joined a few clubs we decided to wait for them in the library.
"Nothing why?"
"Your hands" he said, I look at my hands and their trembling "so unless you're planning on surprising a whole group of people..."
"I was just thinking about what you said this morning. Stef isn't the only one who knows what's going on with Ness" I said.
"You think Alec knows?" he asks
"Yes, yes I do" I said almost growling.
"Okay Jake what is your problem with Alec he's a nice guy"
"I just don't trust him..."
"And?" Seth said.
"And I don't like the way he looks at Ness" I said
"You can't be serious, there's nothing there Jake like at all" Seth said. I know that at least I think I do but Alec and Ness have become closer. And I don't like it.
"You better hope Ness doesn't find out the reason you don't like Alec. Because she'll be pissed and so will Stef" Seth said.
"Yea I know" I said sighing.
