Chapter 8
Edan
What the heck just happened! I just spent the last three nights helping Jade just to find Dell strapped down to a bed. And right when he wakes up he's shot up with drugs again. This can't get any worse. Well I guess it could, people could find out my secret with the plants and everything but that's not the point.
The first day was pretty clear. We had dinner and me and Blaze went shopping at the Hub to get some things to figure out we don't have money. I told Blaze to wait in side while I went in the back and grew some rare mushrooms. I came back inside and Blaze was shocked. She asked me where I found them I said I found them in the ally next to us.
We sold the mushrooms and got some money to buy a pair of tweezers, some chap stick, and some white paste that removes teeth stains.
After that we went to our dorm and got Jade in the shower. She washed her hair and put a lot of shampoo and conditioner in. We brushed her hair with the bristled brush given to us by the school. We tried every single brush they had, a tiny teethed comb, a wide teethed comb, a flat hair brush and the bristled hairbrush. All of them combined worked. Her hair is straight and slick like Caitlin's.
Then we plucked her eyebrows, put on the Chap Stick then put on more and finally put the white paste on her teeth. We waited awhile for like 20 minutes cause that s what the tube said.
When she was done we looked at her newly shaped face and she was beautiful. We showed Chrys and he was even surprised which I think made Blaze jealous.
The next two days were a blur although I do recall in science class I saw Jade kill a rose.
We were doing an experiment with roses and she refused to take one. The instructor forced her though and it wilted, turn black and just died. It scared me half to death because if she can do that to a rose what could she do to me, that made me think twice about putting my hand on her back the first day. I guess that's why she made a sigh of relief when she didn't kill me!
Anyway it turns out that first meal we had at the school was a welcome gift because the usually meal is so plain so boring I just might die of boredom eating one more bite.
Also we got our hooded jackets. They are warm and fit perfectly. They look good on all of us except I don't know about Dell because he hasn't gotten the chance to try his on yet, but I'm sure he'll look great.
I was sitting in Dell's room in the school's hospital carefully watching his face when he said that awful name in his sleep. Caitlin. Then that got me thinking where she was. Did she die? No one has seen her. I'll ask Dell when he wakes if he's seen her while he's been in here.
Again I'm sitting in Dell's hospital room just blanking out over his face. I'm wearing the forest hooded jacket with the silvery white hooded jacket on my lap. I grab his hand because there is no one around. It's rough and strong, but soft and warm.
I let go thinking of switching servers. Which one will I be in? How do they decide? Then I remember what they said about each server having a kind of specialty. I don't know what 13's specialty is but I guess I'll find out. I could ask Blaze about the differences between a few servers since she has been in three of them.
I begin to get up to leave when Dell stirs. I think he's just sleeping and I turn my back. I pause when he speaks up "Don't leave." I can feel myself blushing.
I turn my face at him. I don't feel like smiling especially because of what they did to them. Then I remember all the questions I have. I turn around and sit on the chair.
I look down at the jacket that fell on the ground. I pick it up and lay it on his stomach. He grabs it then sets it on the night stand.
He stares at my face which makes me uncomfortable so I finally say something. "Do you know what happened to Caitlin?" he closes his eyes and shrugs. Then sits up but while he's doing it he winces. "I do know yet I don't know" he finally replies.
I tilt my head. "I saw her the first time I woke up." He pauses. "I moved the curtain beside me and saw her...she was getting a surgery... they were cutting off her arm." He continues. "They saw me and put a needle in my arm and I had a dream..." his voice trail off.
"What was the dream?" I ask. He hesitates "I don't want to talk about it." He says looking down at his hands. I get up and walk out. I'm halfway out the doorway when he asks "Were you holding my hand?" I freeze, turn my head to reply and answer
"Maybe" then leave.
