Blaze

"How about we go to your tryouts" I say getting the subject out of the way. "Ok sounds good to me." Says Jade. Everyone gets up and for some reason I'm furious on how Edan cried. I'm so furious my tray is melting. I quickly set it down and walk away.

We get to the place that holds the tryouts and walk in. There is my fighting instructor sitting on a bench with her clipboard. We are watching another guy trying out but other than us he and the instructor are the only ones here.

We wait until he is done and the instructor asks "You all trying out?" "No just Edan" I nudge Edan beside me. She steps up and walks over to the instructor. They have a little chit-chat and she points to a spot in the field.

Edan walks over there and stands. A ball rises from underground in front of her. She takes a deep breath and kicks it to the side and follows it. A rope trap attempts to grab her leg but she dodges it. Another trap goes off and she avoids and makes a goal.

"Ok that's all I need. If you are the last ones I guess I can leave. Feel free to practice. She walks out the sliding doors.

Dell claps "Fantastic. Just beautiful how you avoided the traps. I think you're on the team." Edan blushes and smiles, but that's smile fades when Chrys asks "How did your mom suffocate?" "That is none of your business." She turns away and kicks the ball.

"I just don't get why you can't tell us." Jade says. Chrys nods. "Stop its her personal life its not like you would ask her the last time she went to the bathroom." Edan looks at him weird.

Soon Edan is on is standing next to Dell and Chrys is standing next Jade and they are all face to face. I'm standing where I was standing when I nudged Edan.

"I can't tell you!" Edan yells at Chrys. "Why not. Did you suffocate her?" Edan begins to cry. "That is none of your business like I said I can't tell you!"

They are all arguing and here I am standing watching them. Then I can't stand it anymore. "ENOUGH!!!" I yell at the top of my lungs. That stops them right in the middle of their words. They stare at me in bewilderment. Then I notice they aren't directly staring at me they are more staring above me.

"What?" I ask because I am so confused. Chrys points a shaky finger above my head. I look up and for the first time since I was seven my hair is on fire. Edan starts screaming. I run over and cover her mouth. "Shut up! Unless you want to get me killed." She struggles and her screaming dies down.

Not one word. I let go of her mouth and she says "Put it out please." "Ya I need water to do that." I say back calmly, but on the inside I'm like I need to run away and hide forever or commit suicide maybe in a very dark hole.

All of the sudden my hair is extinguished. I look over and see Dell standing there with his hands up. "Did you just...put me out?" "Yes." "How?" I reply. "Like this." He blows some sort of breeze at Chrys and knocks him on the ground. Dell starts laughing. "That's what hit me at the hospital and knocked me down! That makes so much sense now!" "Hey!" Chrys says getting up. When he gets up he makes a snow ball and throws it at Dell. "Now that's funny!" Chrys starts laughing. Edan then makes a vine grow up from under Dell to sit him up. "Oh my gosh! That's so cool." Edan turns red.

We all laugh except Jade. I'm still laughing when I say "We are freaks. All of us." All of us turn to Jade and watch her like she is prey. Suddenly the grass around her turns yellow and dies. "Oh you are like some kind of death person. That's why you almost killed me in the hospital." Dell says getting up. We all sit down in a circle in the field.

"What are the odds that we all became best friends and we are all like this?" Chrys says. "One out of a million brother" Dell says lying down in the grass. So lets all explain why we are like this just to know." Edan says "I'll go first." Jade says. "I was born half dead. One of my lungs work and one of my kidneys work and my heart beats five beats per minute. My mom died when I was born and my dad abandoned me when I was seven." The way she says that without a single tear surprises me. I speak up and say "I was born the total opposite of my parents. My blood is oil and I'm resistant to fire and my dad was killed in a fire along with my younger sister."

"I'll go next" Edan says stepping in. "I was born- I think we all know you were born" Dell interrupts. "Shut up I'm tell 'in a story here! So it was really annoying for my life. I was always used for my specialties. My father never let me have a break. That's why we are so rich. He is probably going to go broke now though because I might never come back. I'm just glad I'm out of his clutches."

It goes around the circle of everyone saying there stories. Edan killed her mom by accident with her plants. Dell is a foster child yet he doesn't know why, and Chrys is abused. I'm still stuck on how we all became friends.

We all are tired so we go to our dorms and I fall asleep like a rock, until Edan says "Don't you see I don't have to suffer anymore, Blaze, I'm finally freed."
