Chapter 10
Chrys
This day just keeps getting worse. I new we were gonna be sooner or later watched but now I'm racing to my dorm with Dell trying to get to my sisters knife. When we get in the dorm there is a guy with black clothing and a black mask.
That's who's been in our room to clean the dorm. I see he is holding the knife in his hand and the feather I salvaged from Dells clothes is on thee desk.
Without thinking I charge at the guy. He seems alarmed and tries to jab me with the knife. I dodge it and turn my back to him while grasping the knife, and elbow him in the head. He falls to the ground lifeless. Dell just stands there in bewilderment.
Dell runs over to the guy and puts two fingers on his pulse. He waits "Dude! You killed him!" "I didn't mean to kill him, I just tried to..." I see frost on his forehead where I elbowed him. "We need to get rid of the body." I open the window because it's the only thing I can think of.
"Wait a minute... Didn't the principal say she was putting cameras in the room?" I pause to turn around. There is no camera. Dell makes a sigh of relief while I'm working my butt off to get this body out of here.
Finally he is out the window and falls lifelessly to the ground. I don't look because I really don't want to. I sit on the bed catching my breath when he asks the question "Why is that knife so important to you?" I stare at him and hesitate "My sister gave it to me... she is the only one in my family who loves me." I say admiring the knife. "Oh, all I brought was a feather."
"Why is the feather important to you?" I ask. "Because I'm a foster child and I finally found a foster parent I liked and she gave the feather to me because..." He trails off.
"You do you realize we will never see them again." I say. "How so?" "The principal said we aren't allowed to leave the building and we are switching servers. That means... we will never see them again."
...
The next day I wake up to the shrieking of my alarm and with my bed freezing cold. I try to adjust my eyes and then put my hand through the hole n the wall and a silicon wrist band goes around my wrist. The schedule I apparently have is:
6:00 Wake up
7:00 Breakfast
7:35 Math
8:40 English
9:45 Geography
10:50 Humanities
11:55 Free-time
12:00 Lunch
12:35 Swimming
!3:40 Science
14:45 Fighting
15:50 Survival Skills
16:55 Free Time
17:00 Dinner
!7:35 Free-time
21:00 Curfew
I frown at the silicon. I hear Dell get up and go in the bathroom. I decide not to say anything. I hear the water of the shower turn on and hope he doesn't use all the hot water for the dorm. I need it most.
I look at the knife on the night stand and just stare at it. I look at the blood that's still on it and turn away. I can't believe I killed that guy. It runs shivers down my back.
The water shuts off and I begin to walk to my bathroom. I turn on the water to let it get hot and start undressing. When I'm in the shower I just let the water pound on my back. I don't know why but I can't help but think of Blaze.
The wavy golden curls of her hair, the bright pinkness of her lips, and the blue eyes that change color. I've pretty much memorized every little freckle.
I stop and realize I've been standing too long so I start to wash up. I get out of the shower and dry off. I wrap the towel around me and go to my closet. The closet scan scans my hand and opens with out a sound. I pull the same old outfit out with the shoes and begin to get dressed.
The clock says 6:45 so I brush my hair and teeth and head out the door not speaking a word to Dell. Dell hasn't spoken a word since lunch yesterday. I guess its fine. I head to the stairs and slide down the way Blaze showed me. Blaze. What is wrong with me?
I walk to the cafeteria and get in line; at the table we usually sit at there she is sitting by herself. I feel a grin creeping on my face.
I set down my plate which nearly startles her. "Hey." She says to me. "Where's Edan?" She is still getting ready for Dell." She pauses. "I shouldn't have said that." She says still frozen. She unfreezes and begins to eat again.
"She like him or something?" I ask her. She nods. "I think Jade likes Dell too." "Isn't it obvious" I say. She smiles." "I'd hate to be in Dell's shoes it's a good thing I don't have to worry about that." "Why not?" I feel curious. That second Jade comes with Edan.
They sit down and we eat in silence. Again. Then a minute later Dell comes. Not a word utters and disturbs the silence. "So who has fighting at 14:45?" I feel the need to ask. Blaze raises her hand. "I do" she answers. She is the last person I want to fight.
