I hope that you all enjoy this new story. I have been working on it for a few months, and as all of my stories do, it means a great deal to me. So, laugh and hopefully love, the journey our Romitri takes in this story.

*FLASHBACK*

I lay on the mat, in the gym, with Dimitri hovering just above me. Both my wrists captured above my head, by one of his big, strong, rough, powerful, but also very gentle hands. The other hand was holding his weight off of my body, just not far enough away that I couldn't feel his body's reaction to mine.

Looking into his eyes I saw all the emotions that he always TRIED so hard to hide from me, and from himself. There was; lust, passion, hunger, desire, and need. But most of all there was love, MASSIVE, ASTRONOMICAL amounts of love actually.

He always tried to be such a good guardian and deny the both of us what we wanted most in this world. Which is, was, and always will be, each other. As though just because we are dhampir, that meant that we didn't deserve the same things that the moroi did. Like we didn't deserve love, happiness and each other. Like we were not just as important as the moroi.

Of course, according to the way we were raised and taught we deserved absolutely nothing but training until we died protecting the moroi. I knew that wasn't true, just like he does. He also knows that just because we were born of one race instead of the other, that does not mean that we deserved no happiness or love in our lives. It didn't mean that we deserved less from this world than the royals.

And I wasn't going to let him try to deny the both of us that anymore. I was going to show him that not only did we deserve love, but that we also deserved EACH OTHER'S love.

We may have only known each other for five months. But I loved him more than anything or anyone that I have ever known. Even Lissa. ESPECIALLY Lissa actually.

"What do you wish for Comrade?" He looked at me confused.

He started to physically pull away from me. But I wasn't going to allow him to do THAT anymore either. So, I quickly wrapped my legs tightly around his waist and pulled him even closer to my body than he had been originally.

"Don't pull away from me. Why do you always do that?! Do I disgust you because I had to let Lissa feed from me?!" I knew that I didn't, I just need to get a reaction out of him.

"No, Roza!!! No, of course not. I know that you only did that to keep her alive." He rushed out trying to reassure me.

"Nothing about you disgusts me Roza, far from it actually." He quietly mumbled the last part, but since he was so close to me I still heard him. Even if he hadn't intended for me to and he probably even hoped that I hadn't heard him.

"Then answer my question, please. What do you wish for in this life, Mitya?"

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Opening his eyes again he locked our eyes together.

"I wish for things that I can never have."

"Like what?"

"Roza, please..."

"No, I NEED to know. Please tell me. I need to know that I am not the only one. I need to know that I am not the only one with hopes and dreams that have nothing whatsoever to do with being a guardian." I implored him.

He relented, finally. "There is only one thing in this life that I truly wish for Roza." He said, as he lowered his forehead to rest against mine with his eyes closed.
