Chapter 27

I, unlike other charges, cared that my guardians were fully prepared for any situation that may arise. That is why they each were given the four stakes and two guns. That is also why I had given them the five extra magazines for each gun. Both their shoulder holster as well as their ankle holster had sections for the extra magazines.

I was more worried about them being able to protect themselves and each other than protecting me. I could use my magic to protect myself and my children if the need were to arise. I just hoped that using my magic wouldn't harm my children in any way, which is exactly why I didn't use it very much. I needed to remember to ask Oksana about that when we get back home, to Russia.

As I put on the finishing touches of my makeup. Dimitri sat down on the foot of our bed and pulled on his new Doc Martins. When we saw them in Russia he had said that he had always wanted a pair of them. So, we got him a few pair of them one of which he changed into right there in the mall with a huge smile on his face.

Now they were his favorite boots. He told me that they were a lot more comfortable than the regular combat boots that guardians received as part of their uniforms. And I decided that since he liked them so well that I would always keep him in them, just as he would always keep me in our favorite lip glosses.

I also decided that since he thought they were so comfortable that I would get each of my guardians a few pair of them. And with each new uniform that they got they would get a new pair of boots. Another decision that I made was that from now on, throughout our entire world, that when a charge got their guardians a new uniform. That they would be required to also get them a new pair of these boots.

We'd had to go to a military surplus store to get the type of dress shoes that they were supposed to wear with their formal uniforms. Since we were in Russia, but not close enough to a moroi facility to get them from there. While we'd been there I made sure to get all of them at least four pairs of dress shoes to go with their formal uniforms.

I was finished getting ready, but I still watched Dimitri through the mirror. When he looked up I caught his eyes in the mirror and he smiled that loving smile of his. The same one that always made my heart race frantically before it tripped over itself.

"Are you ready my love?" He asked as he gazed at me his eyes filled with love and lust.

"I'm ready when you are Mitya." I said as I stood up and placed my makeup bag in my suitcase and zipped it closed. He had already put his duffle bag next to my suitcase on the bed.

Standing he held his hand out to me.

"Let's go then."

We walked into the living room and found all of my guardians in their new uniforms. They all had all of their weapons strapped on and their rings were in place.

Mason and Eddie's uniforms had a sapphire blue and white patch above the breast pocket and on the upper arm of the sleeves. Just like all the junior guardians had, which indicated that they were not yet full guardians.

Their uniforms were a little looser than everyone else's on the team but that could be fixed when we got back to Baia. Unless of course they actually preferred them that way and they could fight appropriately in them.

Vika wore civilian clothes because she was not going to become a guardian but an instructor. But she looked really nice in one of the navy blue pinstripe pants suits that Mitya and I had gotten her for this trip.

"What do you think of your guardian detail my love?"

I looked them over, "I think that you all look great. Everyone have all your weapons and your rings?" I asked even though I already knew that they did.
