a year later...
"Luna,"
I look up from my desk, my eyes falling upon Jessie, my Gamma, who stands in the doorway of my study. "Yeah? What's up?"
"We found a boy,"
My eyebrows furrow as I stand up, "A boy? What do you mean?"
"His name is Noah, he's seven."
"Seven? Bring him here."
"Okay," Jessie nods and disappears. I walk around my desk and lean back against it, waiting. A few minutes later, my door is pushed open and a young boy with curly blonde hair stumbles through and stops, looking up at me. His face brightens, "You! It's really you!"
My eyebrows furrow and I squat down, motioning for him to come closer. He comes closer and smiles at me and I wave at him. "I'm Evangeline, what's your name?"
"Noah!" he smiles widely and I nod.
"My friend says you were looking for me," I say and my eyes flicker toward Jessie who stands at the door.
Noah nods quickly, "My mommy said you would help me. She said you were the last known pura lupus."
My eyes widen slightly, "Did she now?"
He nods his head, "She did, I promise! She told me she would be back for me one day. And for you."
"How old are you, Noah?"
"I'm seven," he grins and I nod.
"Okay, Noah, it's nice to meet you. What else did your mommy say?"
"Nothing, and then she left me."
"Is your mommy a wolf?"
He nods. "She is."
"Alright, is that everything?"
He nods, "Mhm."
"Are you tired? It's late."
He nods slightly, "And hungry."
"Do you know where your daddy is?"
His smile drops immediately, his expression darkening, "My daddy died. They killed him."
I frown, "Oh. Who are they?"
He shrugs his shoulders, "Mommy never told me."
"Let's get you some food, okay?" I smile at him and he nods as I look up at Jessie, "Can you show him to the bedroom beside mine? Noah, do you know how to shower?"
He shakes his head, "No."
"Okay, let's get you a bath then and I'll have Jessie get some food for you, okay?"
He nods, "Okay, thank you, Ms. Eva. My mommy told me to call you auntie."
My eyebrows raise, "She did?"
"Mhm,"
"Alright then, you can if you'd like."
"Okay," he mumbles and then I grab his hand, and he follows me out of my study and down the hall. I push open the door to the small bedroom beside my own. I drop the wall between Cait and I.
"Hey, you know about the boy?"
"Yeah, what's going on?"
"I'm not sure to be honest, he said his mom told him I'd help him, and that'd she would be back for him and me."
