Chapter 21

I woke up in the morning with the sun shining in my eyes. I stood up and fixed myself. My daily routines were simple: wash my face, brush my teeth, fix my bed. But then again it hit my small mind. I looked at Matt's bed. He was freaking handsome in his position.

It's not like i'm thinking of dirty things. It's just that he looks like an angel sleeping. Nakadapa siya sa kama habang ang ulo niya'y nakaharap sa'kin. I was too busy staring at his face that I didn't realize he was awake.

"It's bad to stare at one's face you know.  " I was pretty shocked when he spoke out loud. He smirked at me playfully and then..."...Except if it was you who's staring at me." I blushed in emberassment. He chuckled at me.

"Matt, you want to eat breakfast?" I said. He put his finger on his temple like he was imitating Pooh's way of thinking.

"You go on, i'll folow you after. I'm going to do something." I was hurt but again, I trust him. Nagpaalam ako sa kanya at dumeretcho sa baba.

I saw no one downstairs so I asked one of the maids if they've seen the others. She said..."They went out to look for---" she didn't finish her line when someone called her.

"Julie! You have to finish the---...U-uhm, may I borrow Julie for now?" She was trembling for no reason and I don't know why. She was running towards the other maid.

And again I was left alone. I didn't know if I was hungry or anything but I just went back upstairs. I went to the guest room [my...no, OUR room]. Matt was there drinking something. But...isn't that beer?

"Isn't that beer? How come you have some? And also...STOP THAT!" I went to him to get the can of beer from his hands. Unfortunately, inilayo niya 'yun sa'kin at sinabi..."Hey! It's just root beer okay?" He said that straightly that I was relieved. But then surprised when someone knocked. At that moment I was hoping it was dad but out came a maid holding a cup of tea.

"Uhm, perhaps you would like some tea Princess?" She saked me.

"Uhm, okay." I said that before getting the tray from her and went inside. I looked at Matt but I saw him glaring at the maid. It was more like he was killing the maid with his eyes.

"Hey! Do you have a problem with the maid?" He just looked at me. His eyes and his expression was blank. I wouldn't say it was blank, it was rather a curious expression.

I went towards him and sat on his bed. "Let me check the tea." He said seriously. I haven't answered his question when he grabbed the cup and drank it. He was silent for a moment.

"H-hey, is there something wrong. M-Matt? M-Matt!" I was trembling in fear when Matt suddenly turned pale. Like...dead pale! I was so worried.

"I-it's p-poison. G-ood t-thing I d-drank i-it." He smirked at me before slowly falling into my shoulder. I tapped him slightly to check. I was alarmed when he wouldn't wake up.

"H-hey Matt! Matt!" I couldn't stop shouting when his lips started to turn into dark purple. I remember reading a book about different types of poisons.

"T-this was t-the s-same poison used in killing the new president of Krindelburg." [I just thought of that name]

My tears were gushing through my face rapidly while I was watching Matt. I was shocked to see my brothers open the door and rushed Matt out like they knew what happened.

I didn't have time to check whom of my brothers I was talking to but..."Someone in the castle is the part of the dark kingdom." I knew that I was talking to my brother but it rather seems to be an unknown person.

I looked at who I was talking to but he was already at the door going out. I was still thinking of why my tea has poison in it. But then I remember the two maids who were acting quite awkward in front of me.

Then I thought that they can be the 'persons of interest'. It might sound like i'm investigating but i'm just actually furious of how such people would do that to me?! I knew they were targetting me but instead, Matt got involved!

I rushed to the clinic, sobbing. I was almost out of tears but I was continuously crying. I reached the clinic but the door was closed. It was quite weird that they had a clinic here, but for now? It was necessary!

I sat beside the door crying like a child.  I didn't know how I looked and how I sat...I just wanted my Matt back! I want to see his smiles, his face, and his calm voice! In short? I'm crazy in love with him! It was not like I was that desperate to get him as my boyfriend. I was desperate to love him that much that it hurts so much inside.

He loved me back but I didn't even protect him from simple things like this! I didn't want to blame myself for these but it was all my fault! I should've stopped him from drinking that! How stupid for me to let him suffer like this!

I'm scared that I'd lost someone again! I won't and I can't let that happen again!
