Chapter 4

Skylar's POV

The bell rings and I get up from my seat and walk to the door. The only real "friend" I made today was Mae and Vanessa, and I don't know if I can even call them friends yet. Nobody else has really talked to me.

I walk out of my class, and into the quad. I have no clue where I should sit. I start to walk around hoping someone would invite me to sit with them.

After about 2 minutes, I hear my name being called behind me. I turn around to see Vanessa jogging towards me.

"Hey wanna come sit with me and my friends?" She asks.

"Yeah, sure." I smiled, grateful for the invite. We started to walk towards a table with two other girls sitting at it.

"So, how is your first day of High School in New Jersey going?"

"It has been good!"

"Have you made many friends?" She says.

"No not really. The only person who has really talked to me is you."

"Oh well that's okay. In my opinion, having a small group of friends is a lot better than having a big group of friends anyways."

We reach the table and she sits down. I stand there awkwardly, while the two other girls at the table were looking at their phones. They are both REALLY pretty. They just look like they would be hanging out with the "populars" and would be dating the hottest guys at the school. This is extremely intimidating, because well...I am me. I suddenly become self-conscious of my outfit and the way I look.

"Sit down." Vanessa says, while patting the seat right next to her.

I start to sit down and pull out my lunch.

"Hey guys," both of the girls look up from their phones, "This is Skylar. She just moved here from LA."

"Hey, I am Taylor." Taylor has blue eyes and blonde hair. She is wearing this really pretty white blouse and her brown hair is beautifully curled. Just the tone of her voice, made me think that she was really sweet.

"And my names Katie." Katie has really long blonde hair and was wearing a striped shirt.

For the rest of the lunch period, the girls and I just talked. I learned so much stuff about them in the short 30 minute period. I learned that Taylor has a boyfriend named Cameron and plays volleyball. She has a little brother named Tyler who is 6 and a little sister who is 3. She had said that her mom remarried, and decided she wanted more kids.

Vanessa had mentioned in the conversation, that Katie always has guys falling at her feet, which was obvious because 1) she's beautiful and 2) in the short lunch period of 30 minutes , a total of 4 guys came up to her. Also Katie is the captain of the varsity dance team. Everyone loves her cause she is super sweet and smart, and not to mention yet again pretty.

Vanessa didn't say much about herself, but I can already tell she is close to how my best friend was back home. Spunky, sweet, funny, and loyal. Lily was the only one who treated me like a normal person after the incident. She was always there when I needed someone to cheer me up, and I love her for that. Hopefully, I will see her again, I just don't know when I will be ready to go back.

I really clicked with the girls, and I can already tell that we are all going to be really close.
