I wake up Monday morning and can't wait to go to school. I haven't seen Ethan since Friday night. We have texted a little but it isn't the same as seeing him in person.

Vanessa, Katie, and Taylor came to my house saturday to talk more about Friday night. I couldn't help but gush about all the things he was saying and doing. The way he would open up the car door, how he payed for dinner, our singing sessions, etc. They were all so excited when I told them about everything so I told them that I liked him. They all overreacted by jumping around and screaming. We talked and talked all day, and I was so glad I got to spend the day with them.

I didn't tell them the part about him taking me to the hilltop because I wanted that to be our own little memory. As cheesy as it sounds, I really just wanted to share a memory with him that was special and nobody else knew about.

I pull into a parking spot and grab my stuff, then get out of the car. I spot Ethan and Grayson getting out of their car across the parking lot so I decided to walk over.

"Ethan," I call from the next aisle in the parking lot.

He head snaps around looking for whoever called his name when his eyes set on me. He breaks out into a huge smile and starts to walk towards me.

"Hi," he smiles as he pulls me into a big, warm hug.

"Good morning," I say as we pull apart.

"How was the rest of your weekend?" He asks as we continue to walk to the gates of our school.

"It was really good. How was yours?" I ask looking up at him. He was wearing red shorts with a black shirt and white shoes.

"Good," he said giving me a smile. Grayson just came out of their car with all his stuff in his hands.

"Hey, Gray," I say with a laugh. He looks all flustered with papers falling out of his backpack while carrying all of his football gear.

"Shit." He swears as he bends over to pick up the papers.

"You're so dumb, bro," Ethan says taking the gear from Grayson to help carry his stuff.

"Thanks," He said trying to get situated.

Once Grayson was all good, we resumed our walk into school.

"Sooo how was Friday?" Taylor said with a smirk when everyone was sitting at the lunch table. She directed her question towards me and Ethan.

I roll my eyes but go along anyways, pretending that we didn't spend hours talking about it on Saturday. I look at Ethan and then he looks at me. I was about to say something when he cleared his throat and began to talk.

"It was really fun," he blushed looking down at me with a huge smile on his face, "I had a great time." I'm glad he felt the same way I did, so hopefully we could go out again soon. I can't stop thinking about our date.

"Me, too." I look up at him and see the sparkle in his eyes which makes me smile. We both look away and start to laugh, embarrassed.

Everyone seems content with our answers as they begin to talk about something else.

"So, I've been thinking about where we should go for our second date and I was thinking maybe mini golfing or something. What do you think?" Ethan begins to say facing me.

"Who says I wanted a second date?" I ask with a straight face.

"Uhh..," his eyes go wide and he scratches the back of his head, "I just figured...uh..."

"Ethan." I start to laugh at how flustered he got. "I was kidding."

As I say this his body immediately relaxes and he takes a deep breath.

"Sky, that was not funny." My heart flutters at the nickname and how seriously he reacted. "Not cool."

"I'm sorry but that was not an opportunity I was going to miss," I say with a soft laugh.

"Just mean." He glares at me.

"Okay sorry, what were you saying?"

~~~~~~
"Hey mom, I'm home," I yell as I walk into my house. It's been a long day and Ap calculus is kicking my butt.
Math has always been my strong suit and I know I am weird, but I actually enjoy math. I've always sucked at English, with all that thinking and "deeper meaning." Math almost always has one clear answer and a specific way to get there. It soothing for me. But today's lesson was super hard and all I want to do is take a nap.
"How was your day?" She asks pulling me into a hug.
"Tiring, how was yours?" I say truthfully. The school day usually takes so much of my energy and today felt especially draining.
"Mine was good. How about we watch a movie like old times?" I instantly smile as she says this reminding me of all the movie nights as a child.
In addition to going to the movies every Sunday with my dad, every once and awhile, as a family, we would all sit on the couch after school or work and just watch movies.
It was a thing that I always looked forward to. Just hanging around the family room, eating popcorn, and watching movies was my all time favorite thing to do as a kid.
We haven't had a day like this for years because we all became too busy with homework and other things. And we definitely haven't had one since dad died.
"That sounds amazing, mom," I smile, "I'll grab the popcorn."
"I'll grab the blankets," she sings walking into the living room.
It has been awhile since I've hung out with just my mom and me. Ever since I overheard her and Andrew talking, I've felt bad about not spending time with her. It is just I've been so focused on making new friends and rebuilding my life, I have forgotten to make time for her.
After the accident, my mom shut down for a couple of weeks. I could see her trying to help me and Andrew cope with it too, but I could tell she wasn't mentally there. I don't blame her for not being there for the hardest month of my life, because it was hers as well. She lost the love of her life for crying out loud. My mom and dad were so madly in love and it showed through everything they did together.
It took her about 2 months to be present again. To me 2 months is a very short time and I can't believe how strong she was. I never fully was myself again till I got here in New Jersey. My mom is someone I will always look up to and love unconditionally.
I walk into the living room and break out into a huge smile.
My mom is sitting on the couch snuggled up in a blanket with the biggest smile on her face, with the beginning of Beauty and the Beast playing. Belle is our favorite disney princess and ever since we saw the new one on netflix we can't stop talking about it.
I jump on the couch with the popcorn and snuggle up to my mom.
Wow, I've missed this.
