Crossed Paths

Chapter 7

5 months later...

   Lily woke up and stretched. She looked over to Alex in bed, she was sound asleep. The two had found out a lot about each other over the past 5 months and decided that they wouldn't be a couple just yet, but very close friends. It was Christmas morning so Lily woke Alex up to open presents. 

Alex: Is the house on fire?

Lily: No, it's Christmas!

    Alex fluttered her eyes then went back to sleep.

Lily: Come on Alex! 

      Lily got up from the bed and pulled the covers off of Alex. 

Alex: Ugh! I'm cold!

Lily: Get up!

Alex: No!

Lily: I got you a present!

      Alex groaned and got out bed, dragging herself downstairs. This happened every morning, and every morning Lily had to make an excuse to get Alex out of bed. I made pancakes, you have an appointment today, she even told Alex it was her birthday, but she didn't get up from the bed with that excuse. The two went downstairs and saw the Christmas full with presents. Lily had wrapped things for her nephew Patrick. Alex was in awe looking at all the presents under the tree. 

Alex: Wow.

Lily: Here's your present.

     Lily handed Alex a small present and waited for her to open it. Alex ripped the wrapping paper apart to reveal a box.

Alex: Oh my god a box! Thank you so much!

Lily: Shut up and open it fool.

     Alex laughed and opened the box. It was a set of keys.

Alex: What is this?

Lily: Come with me.

    Lily lead Alex outside where a new car was set in the drive way. 

Lily: Since you got your ankle brace off, you can now drive where ever you want.

   Alex almost passed out looking at the beautiful car. She hugged Lily hard, almost picking her up.

Lily: You're welcome!

Alex: Thank you so much!

    Alex put Lily down and wiped away her tears of joy.

Lily: Hold on, there is a gift inside for the baby.

   Lily opened the car door for Alex to see a car seat inside.

Alex: Wow. You didn't have to buy a car seat, I would have done it.

Lily: I wanted to do it. Plus, you're not working so I thought I'd help you out.

Alex: I promise I'll pay you back.

Lily: No you won't.

    Alex laughed,

Alex: Let's get back inside,  It's cold outside and I have a present for you.

    Lily smiled and went inside with Alex. What could she have gotten her?
