It has been a few weeks since Aleks came back. Our relationship has been pretty good since then. We've been, well, happy. And that's good - I just don't like to think about how we got here. How Aleks killed my friends.
"Hey babe," Aleks muttered beside me in a sleepy voice.
"Hi." I say back turning around so I'm face to face with him in our nice, warm bed.
"How are you doing?"
"Mhhmmm.... I'm doing good."
"That's good... look I want to talk to you about the Creatures..." He said softly.
At the mention on my friends, the people he killed, I took a sharp intake of breath. "What about them?"
"Listen...this is hard for me to say but I just want to admit, for your sake, I am really sorry for killing them. Honestly I am."
"Aleks... I don't want to talk about them. I don't know of you are truly sorry or not but it- it doesn't matter. I don't want to think about it. I'm with you now, so I already turned my back on my old friends. I just, I don't want to think about them."
"But you miss them sometimes." He said, still pressing on.
"Yes of course. But what does it fucking matter they are dead. They aren't coming back no matter how much I want them to. Where are you going with this Aleks?"
Aleks hesitated and a look passed over his eyes that I couldn't quite detect what it meant, then he snuggled closer to me and kissed me on my forehead. "No their is no reason I'm asking these questions. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said anything." He was quiet for a moment. "I love you."
"I love you too." I say back to him.
