The cool summer breeze whisked past as you slid open the paper door of the living room. The gentle tink of the tsukubai calmed you while the warmth of the sun kept you energized. You exhale, making your way to your beloved Kakyoin and nuzzle into his shoulder. "What're you reading?"
He turns a page, eyes glued to the yellowed pages of the book. "History of the Haiku."
You chuckle, "You're such a romantic."
Kakyoin turns his attention towards you, his violet gaze reflecting his love for you, "Isn't that why you married me?"
You lean against him, a smirk on your lips, "I guess." Suddenly, the whistle of the kettle beckons your attention and you make your way to the small kitchenette in the next room. The bright green tea beautifully contrasts with the porcelain white cups as you slowly pour. Your lids droop as your mind wanders to a moment that seemed like only yesterday...
"It's almost halfway through the year and JoJo still isn't back!"
"Neither is that new transfer student...what was his name again?"
"Wasn't it Kako or Kaki?"
"It was Kakyoin."
The bright blue sky hung over the group of girls as they wandered through the school yard, aimlessly searching for their beloved JoJo. You were among them, a sneer on your lips. Ever since this Kakyoin guy came along, everyone's been wondering who and what he looks like. You, however, couldn't care less.
"I heard that he might even be cuter than JoJo."
You scoff, "Cuter than JoJo? I doubt that..."
Suddenly, one of the girls shrieked, "There's JoJo!" Like a stampede of hormone-raging bulls, the herd of girls charged towards you. Shoulder and elbows jabbed into you and then the hard concrete slammed against your skin with malicious force. Your leg stung as you tried to figure out what just happened.
"Are you alright?" You winced as you picked yourself up. "Yeah I think so," you said as you look up. The rather tall boy looked concerned. His rose-colored hair went well with his eyes.
"That scrape looks pretty bad. You should go to the nurse," he said with a calm face.
"I'm fine. Sorry, I really have to go no-" Just as you took your first step, a sharp throb rose up your leg, causing you to stumble. Thankfully, the mysterious boy caught your arm, helping you regain balance. You looked ahead and see JoJo's muscular frame growing smaller along with his loyal swarm. Feeling defeated, you decided to give in to this stranger. "Fine."
The somewhat feminine boy offered his arm as support while he escorted you. "Hmm...I think it's this way?"
You hobbled along, "Shouldn't you know your own school by now?"
He shook his head. "I transferred here 2 months ago."
Your brows furrowed, but your pain stopped you from questioning it. Suddenly, a thought popped into your mind, "Your name wouldn't happen to be Kakyoin, would it?"
He looked down at you with a calm expression, "Oh, you know me?"
Something about his expression made you blush and dart your gaze, "Kinda."
After a few more unsure turns, you finally made it to the nurse's office. "I put on some ointment to soothe the pain, but you should rest before going to class. I'll contact your teacher to let them know." You nodded, closing your eyes.
"You're really infatuated with JoJo, huh?"
You opened your eyes and look to your side. Kakoin was sitting beside you totally relaxed, but he was reading something familiar. Your eyes widened as you realized he had your diary in his hands. Face fully flushed, you snatch it away, "You went through my bag?!"
"Not exactly. It fell over and that fell out."
"That doesn't mean you could just read it without permission!" you huffed.
He chuckled, ticking you off even more, "You get flustered so easily."
"Yeah, so?"
He paused for a moment then smiles, "It's cute."
Your heart skipped against your chest and you suddenly began to feel warm. You shook your head and snapped back to reality, "Hmmph. I still like JoJo better."
He leaned closer to you, instantly making your pulse rush, "You sure about that?" His violet eyes stared into yours intently. You turned away, trying to hide your cheeks. "Of course I am." You felt the pressure of his gaze leave you as you heard him walk away.
"Hey."
Reluctantly, you looked up, arms still folded tight. His gaze softened and the gentle look of his face strikes a chord in your heart.
"Maybe we can see each other again soon."
Your posture relaxed for just a moment before building up your defenses again, "Sure, in your dreams." Despite your words, you soft smile revealed your true feelings to him. He waved, then exits the room, leaving you to your feelings...
Teas at hand, you make your way back, sitting in front of Kakyoin, "Here."
"Ah," He puts his read down, "Thank you."
You nod, staring into your cup with a gentle smile, "Do you remember when we first met?"
"Of course I do. I'm a romantic remember," he says with a wink.
"And even after all this time," he sets down his cup, "you're still as beautiful as the day I met you."
Your heat pumps, the blood rushing to your cheeks. You try to avoid his affectionate gaze, but to no avail.
He inches closer to you and kisses your cheek, then closer to your lips, each kiss only fueling the fire on your face. He lifts your chin, forcing you to look into those irresistible violet eyes, "And still, you fluster so easily."
He kisses your lips, the soft warmth of them makes you melt. Right into his arms...
