Chapter 1
Ana
~*~
This is it. I really hope I don't break my neck. I shake away the thought as I climb through my bedroom window, careful not to make any noise. I really don't want to wake my parents up. They would be so angry. I giggle but cover my mouth in a panic. My laugh is one of those that wakes up the whole entire neighbourhood. You know when you have one of those friends that have the most hysterical laugh? Yep, that's me.
I hold onto the window frame as I step out onto the roof. My bedroom is only small but it's at the top of the house, so it's easy to escape for the night.
I smile as I see my friends sitting in their blue convertible at the end of our lawn. It's so dark out that you can barely see the amount of dead weeds and brown shrubs snaking their way up the white fence panels. I sigh, since mum fired our gardener - apparently he was stealing from us, not that I would call nicking the small amount of change on the coffee table stealing - our garden is really not something to be proud of.
I shut the silver window pane, leaving little gap so I can climb back in later. I continue my prison break as I walk across the roof tiles slowly. As I tiptoe across, I step on something that moves underneath my foot. My cat hisses at me and I gasp, losing my balance and falling onto my butt.
"Jerald!" I scold. He watches me which narrowed eyes while I stand back up.
I hope that didn't wake my parents up. They don't approve of me going into the city, especially not for a night out. I quickly climb down the wooden panel our roses grow up and land at the bottom. A fantastic landing if I do say so myself. I smile as I hear my friends.
"Come on!" Abbie yells from the car. The other two girls giggle at me.
I sprint across the lawn and climb in the backseat. I'm so glad I've worn my little black dress or I would've never been able to get off that roof.
"Took you long enough." Abbie laughs and starts up the engine. Abbie is so lucky to have parents with lots of money but then again, her gardener probably doesn't steal from her. Abbie got this car for her eighteenth birthday. I'm only a little jealous.
Tiffany and Taylor both sit in the back with me. They both smile and shake their heads.
"Why don't you use the front door?" Tiffany smirks.
"And get caught by my parents? No, thank you." I raise my eyebrows. They both wear short pink dresses and have their hair pulled back into plaits. I swear they are wannabe-twins half the time.
"Ready?" Abbie drives us down the street about a hundred miles an hour. I have no idea how she got her driving licence. I grip onto the car door for dear life as we swerve from side to side.
The neighbourhood whips past us outside and I can hear my erratic heartbeat drumming in my ears.
"I'm going to try and impress Daniel tonight." Taylor pats down her little pink dress and beams at us. She's had a crush on Daniel for like, forever. He's head of Taylor's swim team, totally gorgeous and has an amazing body, not that I have been looking or anything, but it's kind of hard to ignore.
Taylor is very pretty in her own way. She has small delicate features and a layer of freckles on her cheeks. Her blonde hair is almost always curly and up in a beautiful plaited bun this evening. Tiffany is definitely more outgoing, she wears bright red lipstick and her straight, white blonde hair is half up and half down. She also wears cute little waves that fall just past her shoulders.
