Chapter 8

Ana
~*~

"Ana!" Abbie shouts my name from within the crowd of the club. I walk over to her, pushing and shoving my way through.

"We've gotta go! It's gone two already!" She starts to panic.

"Oh crap..." I turn around to find Penny and I say my goodbyes. Loki's expression is a mixture of hurt and confusion as we leave the club.

Abbie links my arms in hers as we run down the road towards the car. A few whistles get thrown Abbie's way but she just gives them the finger. Taylor and Tiff both giggle and run after us.

As we run, I get an eerie feeling that we are being watched from above, but every time I turn my head there is no one there. How odd.

We finally make it to Abbie's convertible parked, very badly, against the curb.

White flamed circles burn into the back of my head and I can't seem to shake away the feeling that someone is following us. I look around once again for a sign of anyone, but the streets are bare. Everyone is either inside the clubs or tucked up in bed. Where I should have been about an hour ago.

"Come on Ana!" Abbie shouts as I leap into the passenger seat.

The engine roars to life as we travel across the bridge and back through the dark woods, the one road leading in and out of our village. The feeling follows me and becomes stronger than ever. Am I going crazy? I keep looking in the rear view mirror for anyone that could be following us but I can't see anything from the darkness of the night.

"You and Loki seemed to hit it off!" Tiff squeals excitedly.

"He was definitely into you, Ana!" Taylor joins in.

"He's alright." Even I can't buy my own lie. I'll admit he's good looking and he has a nice smile but there's nothing that makes him different from any other jerk in this place.

"Ana likes him!" Abbie grins at me.

"What?!" I turn towards her, shocked. Abbie continues to drive ahead, far faster than the speed limit but in this case, I'll admit we do need to get home in a record time.

"You like him. I can tell." Abbie laughs.

"I do not!" I scold myself for lying again.

"How long have I known you?" Abbie raises an eyebrow.

"Umm. Forever." I reply.

"Exactly! I know when you like someone." She smirks.

Whatever. I look out the window.

"What's going on with you and Riley, Tiff?" I ask her. Her skin whitens and her cheeks start to flush red.

"Nothing." She quickly dismisses the question.

"Uh, huh." We all look at each other and laugh. When Abbie drops me home she shouts from the car.

"Sleepover at mine tomorrow night. 7:30, don't be late!" She smiles and drives off leaving me on the front lawn.

I giggle and look around at my peaceful house. I climb up onto the roof and back through my window. I try to be as quiet as possible as I climb back into bed. Laying my head back on the pillow, I gaze out into the night, past the shimmering glass window.
