Chapter 3

Loki

~*~

She's different from any girl I've ever seen before. Sure, she decided to come to this sleazy place of all the bars in the city. Perhaps it was her friends who took her here?

I can't shake away that smile of hers when she got embarrassed and fell off the stool. Great way to introduce myself was to save her from colliding with the ground. Normally, I would have to come up with some crappy chat up line but this time I didn't. How many times can one girl hear "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"

My eyebrows crease at the thought.

Jesus, what am I thinking? She is just some girl I tried to pick up at the bar.
I shake my head trying to get the image of her dancing out of my head. The way she moved to the music with her wavy brown hair falling down her slender back and the adorable laugh escaping her lips. I shake my head. What the hell? I must of had more to drink than I thought.

"Your drinks, Sir." The bartender hands me a tray with four beer glasses placed next to each other. I take it from him.

I need to stop thinking about her, so I walk back over to our table.

We call it our table cause we normally end up here most evenings. Riley likes to have a different girl per night. He chooses this place to pick his targets. Drunk university girls are his meat.

"Finally! Thought you weren't coming back." Riley stands up at the table smirking.

"I got...distracted." My mind wanders back to the girl. I didn't even get her name.

"Not another one Loki?" Penny laughs. Penny is Riley's little sister. They are both courageous and outgoing and brilliant fighters. Riley has blue eyes with dark black hair and Penny has striking green eyes that she says she got from her mum.

"Ha, not this time." I place the tray on the table.

The strobe lights flash around, hiding us in the far corner of the club. The shadows keep us hidden in case we run into one of The Unwanted. I shake my head. Like they'd be stupid enough to come to this place when we're here. They know they wouldn't stand a chance against us.

"Turn you down did she?" Penny laughs, raising an eyebrow at me. She flicks her long, pink hair back and grins mischievously.

"Me? No way." I act offended. I have a reputation to uphold. I never have any trouble picking up girls and Penny knows it.

"Awh, poor Loki. Found someone who isn't interested, huh? It must hurt your ego slightly, surely?" She stills grins, giggling.

I turn around to face Riley. He just shrugs. He knows not to fight with his sister. It always ends badly. "Come on, Loki not getting a girl? It's ridiculous." He laughs.

"Alright. So maybe she ran off." I shrug, trying not to sound too hurt by her sudden departure. Not many girls say no to a drink either.

Penny bursts out laughing and rolls around on her seat.

The table is surrounded by comfy red sofas. Penny takes up a whole one to herself because she claims she likes to put her feet up. But I know it's because she likes to scope out the guys coming through the front door of the club. I shake my head and grin back at her.

"What are you grinning at?" She raises an eyebrow. I brush her off and take the seat next to Riley.

"Where's Fabian?" I ask, looking around. I hadn't even noticed he wasn't sitting at the table, that's how much that girl has messed with my head.

"Over there." Riley points to Fabian hitting on a group of girls at the bar.

"Right." The girl enters my mind again. I really can't seem to shake the image of her in that black dress away.

"She's really got under your skin, hasn't she?" Riley smirks as he chugs back his beer.

"She's a nobody. Not worth wasting my time." I'm such a good liar it's frightening.

"I like her already." Penny winks.
