Growing up in the shadow of a workaholic mother and a father who runs his own music company is a struggle. I am not talking about all the red carpet events, awards, and house parties that I get to go to . I am talking about going to high school at the same time as all this with kids who don't understand that this lifestyle isn't all fun at all.
Imagine coming home after school and instead of saying goodnight to your parents before you go to sleep you say goodnight to your favorite butler, Anthony.
Don't get me wrong I love Anthony with all my heart and he has practically raised me even though he is only five years older than me. His mom was our maid before she was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a few months ago. Anthony now lives in one of our guest houses in the back yard. My dad is very fond of Anthony when he is home. Anthony can play the guitar and sing a little here and there but I think he holds back when i am around because he knows how i feel about everyone around me in the music business.
I feel bad for Anthony though, I know he's good enough to get into Sony and get a record deal. I know i am holding him back but he's the one person I can trust and that I need in my life.
My "aunt" is a singer, might have heard of her. Kelly Clarkson, my dad and her have been friends for a long time ever since she broke out of American Idol. Micheal Lyton, my dad, is someone everyone wants to know. He can easily become your best friend if you are chill and not eager. You have to get along with his family aka me. My mom works at a law firm in New York City and we only see her during holidays. So whenever my dads artists get into trouble with the law, he sends them her way. Which her law firm likes because i am, its good for business.
Aunt Kelly comes around a lot more than my parents which is weird kind of. She usually comes after school and helps making dinner for me with Clark, our chef. She likes cooking and she likes me so i don't usually complain. I do my homework, eat food and hang out with aunt Kelly until i go to sleep and go to school.
And that is where we start this crazy journey down the road of Jillian Renee Lyton. The girl that can sing but refuses to. Her father the Sony Records owner, and he mother apart of the biggest law firm in NYC.
