As they got higher up the monument, the more Riley could feel her backpack heat up. And she definitely feared the worst.
And suddenly, the worst happened. The alien glowy thingy exploded and burned a circle on the ceiling of the elevator, causing a huge explosion.
"Oh shit!" Riley freaked and threw off her backpack.
"Stay calm everyone." Liz tried to soothe, but didn't really work.
"We are going to die here." Abe said.
The elevator became foggy and all Riley could smell was something burning. She looked up and saw the burned circle, right where the wires are that holds the entire elevator from falling thousands of feet to their deaths.
"We're frickin screwed." One kid said.
Riley stood close to Sabrina and held her hand, "I really wish I had my suit." She whispered. Sabrina nodded slowly.
"Okay guys, I know that was scary but our safety systems are working. We are very safe in here." The guide lady said, all too calmly.
On the outside of the monument, Peter Parker races up the side as fast as he can, as his new suit lady tells him the diagnostics of the situation. "Safety systems are failing. Occupants are in mortal danger."
Inside, people on the floor above, opened the door and began helping out the team inside. Cindy was the first up, and saw the wires creaking. Not good.
"You know have 125 seconds till catastrophic failure." Karen explained.
"What?! Why?" Peter asked urgently.
"Unexpected motion has caused diteration to escalate."
"How do we get in there?!"
"Activating reconizant drone." Then, the spider symbol on Peter's chest clicked off and flew up to the top of the building. "Proceed to southwest window."
"Karen, I'm on my way." He then bolted towards the way in.
Peter struggled with the height once he got to the top. He tried to break the window with his ankle, but it didn't work. "Why isnt it breaking?!"
"Its 4-inch bolistic glass. You'll have to create more momentum."
Inside, Riley stood in the elevator, watching people get off. Flash selfishly pushed her out of the way, and took the trophy. However, the sudden movement caused the elevator wires to break a little more, erupting a shriek from him.
"Our hero." She grumbled. "I hope Peter's seeing this." She whispered to herself and looked down at her backpack.
Peter, at the window, now trying to break the glass harder, saw that happening, and didn't see Riley. Maybe she got out. Or maybe shes on the ground. However, he scanned and saw 3 bodies still in the elevator.
As the air police kept yelling at him to get down, urgently, he sighed and ran to the very top of the monument, hugged the tip and groaned, "I'm gonna die." Then jumped backwards and flew around thr plane, catching himself on the bottom of it and hurling himself at the window.
Inside, Flash kept scrambling out and kept putting too much stress on the strings, causing it to break. Selfishly, he jumped onto the floor and crawled away, as the elevator string snapped, sending the 3 hurling down towards their death.
Screams echoed through the elevator, as Riley held onto the wall, or tried to. Luckily, Peter caught the elevator before it went too far down to catch.
