It has been 6 days since your mom left. You sat in the corner of the living room for the first 2 days looking out the window often, and then moved to your room. You refuse to eat much or speak to anyone until she's back. If she's back.

"Knock knock" Preston slowly opens your door. "Please eat something. You don't need to talk, or look at me, or even move out of that spot, but please just eat." You look at him then put your head back down. "Zoe, i know you're worried about your mom. But you have to eat, please. " "I can't." you get up and push past him. You run out to the backyard as Preston follows you. "Zoe!" Preston reaches the door and freezes.

"Zo?" You just sit there facing the fence head in your hands. Preston runs down and falls next to you pulling you into an embrace. "Zoe she will be fine. she is fine I promise." "How do you know? She could be bit or something. She would have called or came back by now..." "Things happen. Yes she should have been back by now but that doesn't mean she's hurt. Maybe she had to go far or she didn't find much."

You don't know how to respond because he is sort of right. But there's still the high possibility something happened. So you just sit there with your face in his chest and then you hear sounds. Sounds of something cracking...

"the fence!" You and Preston shoot off the ground and go inside. "Come on." You run up to the 3rd floor, go through the attic, and onto the roof. " Get down!" You both crouch behind the chimney looking around the yard to see how many zombies there are. "There's no way we're gonna take all of them out."

You look around trying to think of any sort of plan. "I'll be back in like five seconds." You go down to your room and grab your bow and a silencer for Preston. "Zoe what's going on? There's a lot of angry monsters outside." Emma asks sleepily. "Just a couple zombies, i need you to come to the roof with me. Your brother is already up there."

You go up the roof and start taking them out. "The fence won't hold much longer and they'll eventually get into the house. We need to go!" "What? No! Not until my mom at least contacts me!" "Zoe we don't have a choice!" Your eyes water but you listen anyway. "Follow me. Don't mess up." "Wh-" before Preston can finish you jump over to the neighbors roof.

"Are you crazy?" "Yes. But I've been doing this for 12 years. It isn't hard. " "is there anything you haven't done?" "Nope, now come on." Preston jumps across. "Shit. Come on emma." "I'm scared." "Hun I know it looks high and scary but I promise it isn't. You can run and jump if you want, we will catch you okay?" Emma nods her head and goes for it. "Zoe!"

You grab her arms and pull her between you and Preston. "Alright come on." You continue to roof jump and finally get to the ground. "What now?" "My friends house is just down the block she has a car." "You're gonna steal her car!?" "Not the first time, but she wouldn't care anyway. She said it was my car too if i needed it."

"There it is!" "A range rover? Nice." "Yep. She crashed it the first day she got it. So her parents actually made her give partial ownership to me." You go up to the house and slowly open the door. "Don't say a word until we know it's clear. Her keys are upstairs." You whisper and creep in. "Stay here." You go upstairs to your friends room.

"please don't be dead, please don't be dead." You open her door. The room was empty, as if it hadn't been touched in days. "What? She's always here." You walk over to the nightstand and grab her keys. You make your way downstairs and waste no time leaving. "Come on."
