(a/n: this is gonna be a bigish time jump cus i am unsure what else to write and I'm lowkey ready to finish this and start the second book. This will probably be the last chapter if not 2 more chapters left of this)
It has been 6 months since you lost preston. 6 months since you found Lydia and her group. You ended up in a community for a little bit but it got torn apart by another community they were fighting with. You, Ellis, and Lydia were the only ones to make it out that were in your group. You pressed on. What else can you really do? You've gotten really close with Ellis and Lydia. Especially Ellis. You both like each other but agreed nothing would happen until you knew for sure Preston was alive or dead or if a year passes and you don't find him then he's long gone. And of course he would give you time after to let you move on from Preston. Even though you knew you couldn't do that. You think he knows it too but doesn't want to say it.

" there it is!" You yell down the road. Lydia and Ellis started running to catch up to you. You've spent the last 4 months looking for a place called the emmonsville safe zone. It sounded too good to be true like any other safe zone. Food, water, power, people, protection. It was hard to come by these days so you all decided to try for it. And you succeeded. You reached the top of the hill before the other two could. "Are you here for emmonsville?" a man in a military uniform asked sternly. You nodded. Ellis and Lydia caught up. "yes we are." "great. What are your names? And you also must check your weapons in with preston" your eyes widen. " im zoe, that's ellis, that's lydia. Great uhm question is Preston's last name allan?" you speak really quickly. "Yes" the military man asks. "Where is he?" "come on in I'll show you"

the gates open and you fly through them. A million thoughts running through your mind as fast as you're running. "slow down speedy Gonzalez, you'll get shot in here for running like that" "sorry really excited" you say even faster. "alright follow me. Preston your boyfriend or something I've never seen anyone so happy" you nod violently and get dizzy. You just shake it off and walk fast. "he's in here" the man opens the door. low and behold there's preston. "Allan. She says she knows you. She's very excited to see you" the man calls.

Preston looks up and drops everything. He sprints over to you and sweeps you off your feet. "Zoe,you're still live! Oh my god i love you so damn much!" " I love you too. I'm sorry! I didn't wanna leave you but Elaine made me. She wouldn't let me go back and kept trying to tell me you died" you cry of sadness and happiness at the same time. Preston kisses you. "It's okay babe. I know you didn't want to. Where is Elaine?" "i killed her-" "H- i am not even surprised. She deserved it. Who are your friends?" "Lydia and Ellis. We had more but the world sucks. Except for Brennen. He deserved it." "what did he do?" you say nothing. "Zo?" "He attacked her. He didn't think she could talk cus she was mute. But she screamed so i ran in and killed him. Not long before he tried to kill her but i beat him" Ellis seems slightly intimidated by Preston. But you don't blame him. "Well thank you. If you weren't there i would of never had her back" you smile at Ellis as he releases the breath he was holding. "Anything for a friend" Ellis smiles at both of you. "you guys will meet with Sargent andrews tomorrow morning. Welcone to the community" the military man says before walking off. "Welcome home" Preston says and kisses you. This is the beginning of a new end...
