chapter 29

It was been a few days since what happened. Brennen was somehow Live. He couldn't see or breathe well though. Once he recovers fully he's being kicked to the curb. He looks at you with his swollen bloody eyes as you walk to the other side of the house to find Ellis. He promised to take you fishing today. You knock on the door frame and he looks up. A giant smile appears on his face. "ready?" you nod your head violently and run to the door not waiting for Ellis. "Zoe wait" you slow down once your feet hit the grass. Ellis catches up and you go to the lake.

"you fish before?" he asks focusing on the crystal blue water. You write "yes" and shove it in front of his eyes. He smiles rolling his eyes. "You really should talk eventually, i know you can do it" he looks back to the water. "i know. It takes me a long time to come around when I'm sad about things." he reads quickly and nods. "I get it. My mom was the same way til she met my dad. Then sometimes we would all wish she would stop talkin'" you both laugh.  " i wish you would too" you laugh till you wheeze and he splashes you. You splash him back. He throws a worm at you expecting you to freak out but you just pick it up and look at it. "His name is Gary." you write and Ellis smacks gary into the water. You look at him with sad eyes and before he knew it you jumped in the water.

"what the hell are you doing?" he tries to be serious but can't hold his laugh as you look for Gary splashing him in the process. You disappear under the boat and throw Gary at Ellis before he could see you. "aw' jesus! He smells!" "you point at him then hold up a two on your fingers. "no you do." you shake your head no and go under the boat. When you don't come back up Ellis gets frantic and jumps in. "Zoe?" you climb on the boat before he can see you get up and he starts swimming around. You laugh as he struggles to find you. When he turned around you waved at him and laughed so hard you fell back into the water. He came back over and grabbed you. "I thought you fuckin' died" he said. It was a  serious tone but you couldn't help but smile. "It isn't funny zoe. I really thought you drowned or something" you raise an eyebrow and he releases the laugh he was holding. It's nearly imposible to hold a straight face with you.

You both go back to the house after a while. It was strangely quiet. "im gonna put the stuff away" Ellis walks off and you go inside. It was dark. The generator was off which means everyone was gone. you walked into your room you went to lay down but the door closed behind you. "Hello Zoe" the thick french accent echoed in your head. Before you could turn around Brennen pushed you on to the bed. you rushed to get your gun. Of course it was with Ellis. Your knife too. Brennen grabbed you arms. You tried to scream but nothing came out. "you're mute. How'll you scream? Nobody is here anyways your poor poor soul" Brennen smirks and bites you earlobe. You try again giving it All you have and it finally comes out.

"GET OFF OF ME YOU STUPID PRICK!" Brennen pulls back from your ear shocked. " you can talk. Atleast now i can hear you say my name." he licks your face through swollen lips and you pull back as far as you can in disgust. "Zoe?!" Ellis was running towards the door. "dammit. Stay quiet or tell him you're fine. Or else i kill both of you. I'll make you watch him suffer" His English is suddenly as clear as day. He probably isn't who he says he is. You nod. He removes his hand from you mouth. "ELLIS!" You yell. Brennen smacks you as hard as he can. The Door basically came off its hinges as Ellis bursts through it. Ellis grabs Brennen by the hair and shoves him off of you. You quickly get up. "go outside" "but-" "go Zoe. Watch for the others" you just whisper a slight "okay" and go outside.

After a few minutes the others pulled into the drive way. As soon as they got out of the car a gunshot rang out through the dry air. "Zoe what's going on?" Lydia runs over and wipes your tears. The other two rushing inside. "b-brennen attacked me and Ellis started beating hi-him" you stutter through your sobs. Lydia grabs your hand and you walk inside together. As soon as you walk through the front door Ellis, Nate, and Jessi walk out of your room. You swiftly walk to Ellis and throw your arms around him. He hugs you back tightly. "Is he-" Lydia starts. Jessi and Nate nod. Lydia sighs. "shit" was All she managed to say. " are you two okay?" she asks. You and Ellis nod slightly. " I want an entire explanation after we remove the body" with that you all cleaned up the room.
