Jessie's P.O.V.I sighed as I go out of bed. Today was the first rally of the year at school. That meant a lot of loud obnoxious sounds and shirtless guys. I really can't complain about the shirtless guys, but the noise is honestly too much. Since we had won the game last night, people would go all out. Bullhorns, Speakers, music, even some little fireworks. It amazes me that everyone on the football team aren't already suspended: they participate in the craziness the most. Seeing as how I'm a cheerleader, I have to also go. In the first game of the season, we generally don't perform due to the incident that had happened a few years back.
This girl Maddie (the captain at the time) had been cheer leading the first game, fell down, and had broken her arm and leg. Nevertheless, she had literally kept cheering. Due to that "horrific experience in which our star cheerleader sacrificed so much to root for our team," as the coach explains it, we don't cheer that game.
Anyways, enough about Maddie. Do you ever have one of those life changing moments when you're taking a shower? You're just like, "what the hell am I doing with my life?" I had one of those yesterday. Due to that life altering experience, I have decided to try more. To try in being nice, being presentable, and being smart. A long shot, but hey. A girl can dream, right?
As I slipped on my uniform, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Unlike most teenage girls, I loved my body. It was in no means perfect, sure: I was skinny and athletic, but my thighs still bulged a little when I sat down, and my arms had a little bit of fat on them. But I had learned to appreciate who I was, because I wasn't going to change. I dragged myself into the bathroom, still feeling like hell from getting up. After neatly combing my naturally wavy hair, I put on some makeup. Not too much; I went for the natural look. I brushed my teeth, grabbed my white sneakers, cheer bag, and cute 1-shoulder carry on (as a backpack) and went downstairs.
Immediately a football was thrown directly at my head.
"SHIT" I screamed, as my twin brothers ambushed me from the bottom of the stairs. "YOU TWO ARE SO GONNA GET IT," I ran after them as foam footballs were being thrown at my head.
I ran around, trying to catch them, as they threw random things at me. My sister Lexi started clapping and doing the little 2-year-old laugh. Nothing about this was funny though.
I ran into the kitchen, somehow knowing that my pig of a brother would be in there. "LOGAN I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME WHERE ARE THE NERF GU-" I stopped dead. Michael was standing right in our kitchen.
"Woah, Jess, slow down." Michael laughed as he stopped me from running into the cabinets.
"Wait--what are --you doing-- here?" I asked him almost all out of breath
"Thanks for the love. I'm going to drive Lo to school in a while, need a ride?"
"Can't talk-- have to-- fight Rob-- and Alex--." I panted as more footballs were being thrown at my head.
Michael asked my brother something, and ran upstairs, while I ducked under our countertop island. He ran up the stairs, and Logan laughed at me.
"Logan don't laugh this is practically World War 3" I whispered, trying to be discreet about my secret location.
He just kept laughing. Boys.
Michael slid next to me, bearing the weapons and ammo.
"Jess, here's the plan" as he gave me a nerf gun. "You get Rob, I'll get Alex. Good?"
"Good" I said determined. I was too focused to notice that Michael was once again in my house, and helping me prepare for a battle against my younger brothers. Every girl's dream.
"1...2...3" I yelled, as I sprinted out from 'hiding'. I started shooting Rob, trying to make him stop throwing things at me.As I hit him in the chest, he accidentally threw a football right at Logan's head while he was shoving a waffle in his face.
"Oh, that's IT." Logan yelled, as he started tackling Rob.
I took a break to rest from the war, while the screaming of boys continued, and the laughing of the two year old proceeded. Right then, a nerf bullet hit me directly in the ass. I turned around, only to see a grinning Michael with the gun pointed at his target.
"MICHA-" he stopped me mid sentence, and threw me over his shoulder.
I hit his back "Let me downnnn." I whined. "I have a war to win."
He laughed, and then whispered. "I'm kidnapping you. It must have been the short skirt that gave me the courage," obviously talking about my cheer uniform.
I blushed. "You know, in that football thing, you don't look too bad yourself."
Suddenly, Alex and Rob came towards us, yelling and screaming.
" MICHAEL THEY'RE GOING TO GET US COME ON" I screamed, kicking my legs as Michael tried to run away.
"DOGPILEEE" the boys screamed, and we all came crashing down in a heap. Right then, my mother came downstairs
"KIDS." she yelled, "WHAT IN GODS NAME DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? YOU GUYS CAN'T BEHAVE YOURSELF FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE I TRY TO GET YOUR LITTLE BROTHER READY FOR SCHOOL?"
I blew a stray piece of hair out of my face.
Lexi laughed from the couch where she was eating some Cheerios.
Michael sneezed.
Sensing the awkward tension, Alex tried to get up. He ungracefully tripped over my foot and came crashing down again.
My mom couldn't help herself. She started cracking up. After recovering from her outburst, she quickly helped every one of us up.
I guess she knew Michael was going to pick Logan up, because she didn't question why he was here."Thanks mom," Rob and Alex grumbled, at the same time as Logan pushed me slightly into the wall.
My mom started laughing again. "Go eat breakfast, and hurry. I don't want you to be late for school."
After we all ate breakfast, Michael took me and Logan to school. I could hear the chanting and yelling of the early-bird ralliers already.
Let the fun begin.
