“Tomorrow im going dress shopping and you are coming with me.” Zoey stated as she slid next to my locker as i grabbed my books.

“What's the occasion?”

When i didn't hear an answer, i glanced up from my locker and noticed her blank expression.

“What?”

“You can't be serious.” She said in disbelief.

I just stared at her, unsure of what she was talking about.

“Homecoming!”

“What about it?”

“Riley Phillips, i am so disappointed in you!” She said with a shocked expression. “Its coming up in a couple weeks and we desperately need dresses.”

I shrugged and shut my locker.

“Eh, i dont think im going.”

“You are going whether you like it or not.”

“Zoey, come on. You know i'm not into the whole dance thing. I didn't even go when Brooke tried dragging me to the school.”

Zoey tensed at Brooke’s name, but quickly contained herself.

“Exactly! You have never gone to a school dance and that's changing. Its our last year of high school and we need to make the most of it. Please!” She begged.

I shook my head and she huffed out a frustrated breath.

“Please!”

I remained silent.

“Please! Pleeeeeeaaaaaaase! PLEASE!”

“Okay, fine!” I gave in because i knew if she yelled any louder, my eardrums would burst.

“Yay!” She squealed as she did a little happy dance.

I rolled my eyes at her excitement and shifted my books in my arms.

“Nice dance moves.” Carter chuckled as he joined our conversation.

Zoey froze at the sound of his voice and began turning into a red tomato.

“What's got you so giddy?” He asked.

“Riley finally agreed to go to homecoming.” She explained.

His eyes lit up in surprise and his gaze travelled to me.

“Did you kidnap her cat or something?”

“I don't have a cat.” I glared at him.

“Well, what strings did you pull to get her to agree?” He focused back on Zoey.

“I just used my amazing charm.” She joked.

I scoffed at looked down the hallway, watching all the people rush to their next classes.

My eyes travelled across the crowd, but stopped when they landed on a familiar brown head.

I met the hatred filled eyes that glared at me as he walked past. I focused my eyes on his face, covered in bruises.

His lip was busted open and his jaw had a dark shadow which i assumed were bruises. The bridge of his nose was bandaged and swollen, his cheek looked almost dented in by the large, dirty looking bruise that covered it. My gaze slid to his right eye, the skin around it that used to be a perfect tan was now a dark purple that made me cringe.

It was hard to believe Logan caused him that damage, but the evidence was right in front of me.

“That douchebag finally got what was coming to him.” Carter chuckled.
