| WHAT THE HEART WANTS |
MILANA found Greer in the bar a few nights after first speaking with her. She was scrubbing away at tables after hours. Milana couldn't remember exactly how or why she was here. It would have given her a cover to say she was here to get more information but she knew in her mind that wasn't it. Milana didn't even bother questioning her heart. That was definitely too much on top of everything else.
Greer wasn't looking at her as Milana walked further into the club. Her mask and costume were gone, she should have worn it to be safe, but for some reason she didn't feel she needed it around Greer. It was stupid, that was what Nox would tell her- probably all of her siblings would- it was stupid to trust someone she didn't even know but Milana wasn't worried about her identity with Greer.
She didn't feel naked without the mask or the clingy spandex costume. She felt free.
"You work late."
"I have bills to pay. People counting on me." Greer explained without looking up from the table she was washing. "So you're sans spandex and mask now, huh? Isn't it against some superhero rule to show your face to the common folk?"
Greer wasn't surprised seeing Milana's true identity. It was intriguing. "Probably," Milana shrugged and hopped onto a barstool. "But I trust you not to say anything."
She wasn't sure why. She just did. Greer wrung out her cloth over a bucket Milana could see on the floor. "Hmm, that's a lot of faith you have in a complete stranger, don't you think?" Greer teased but her tone was light. Happy.
She was graceful as she moved in between tables. She must've done this a hundred times before. Milana smiled. Greer was a breath of fresh air for her. "Maybe."
"Anyway," Greer moved onto another table, "since we're on the topic of heroes, where are your buddies? What was that guy's name?" Greer tapped her chin in thought and Milana could feel her stomach clenching with something odd.
"Illusion."
Greer snapped her fingers, pointing them at Milana. "That's it. Yeah, Illusion."
Milana ignored the weird feeling inside of her. She shoved it down so she could answer Greer. "He's not here. Neither of them are. I came alone."
Greer's red brow rose up in a perfect arch. "Oh and what did you come for, exactly? It is after hours, you know."
And yet the doors hadn't been locked, almost as if Greer had been inviting someone in. Milana knew that wasn't the case but still she speculated.
"I know."
Greer smirked, leaning down again to get a spot on a table that wouldn't budge, despite the soapy cloth's best attempts. "And I don't give superheroes discounts on drinks. Especially this late at night."
Greer was rambling. It was kind of... Cute. Milana hopped off of the stool and went closer to Greer. She could see the redhead visibly stiffen at her approach. Was she afraid of her? Milana's stomach sank at the possibility.
She was careful speaking next. "I just wanted to make sure I'd gotten all of the information you know. I wasn't sure if you forgot something or if I misheard; it was really loud." Milana lied.
