2 MONTHS LATER

**Kayla's POV**

I hear Bailey waddle in through the door of the Curtis house from the kitchen where I'm washing dishes.

"Hey, Kayla," she says as she sits down on the couch.

"Still pregnant, huh?" I say. She nods and turns on the TV.

She's officially late with her due date, and can barely walk. We keep telling her to stay home and rest, but she doesn't listen.

Things haven't been very good with everyone lately. Two-Bit was supposed to be home a few weeks ago, but there's been no word from him at all. Lauren hasn't been doing well with her pregnancy, and has to go to the doctor's office twice a week. Victoria can't stand the fact that Johnny's with someone else, but I can't really blame her since she's only a few months from having his baby. Alex and Dally are loving LA, but I miss them so much.

"Johnny called from work, said that Ponyboy and Jess want to go to lunch with you two this afternoon," I tell her. I see her smile.

A few minutes later, Victoria and Lauren walk through the door. Lauren looks like she's in a lot of pain, and Victoria walks over to sit with Bailey.

"How was the appointment?" I ask them.

"It was alright," Lauren says, holding her stomach. "I've been having these really bad stomach aches, so they said if they continue or get worse that I should go to the hospital."

She hisses in pain before turning to Victoria. "I'm going to go lay down, holler if you need anything."

Lauren walks down the hall, followed by Victoria. It feels weird to be the only one in the house who isn't pregnant.

**Ponyboy's POV**

I sit impatiently on Jessica's bed, waiting for her to get changed. Johnny wants to go to lunch with all of us, so I don't really understand why she's trying so hard to look cute.

"Okay, what about this?" she asks me. I look up and notice her blue jeans with rips in the knees and a fancy white tee shirt.

"You look great, Jess," I say, looking back at the book in my hand.

"Babe, you've said that about the last four outfits," she whines.

"We're just going to lunch with Bailey and Johnny, just wear something casual," I say.

She scoffs and walks back down the closet. "Fine."

There's a really weird energy surrounding everyone in the gang right now. Jessica has been in a weird mood ever since things started going downhill a few weeks ago, everyone kind of has. It's almost like we lost the simplicity of the gang once everyone started growing up.

She returns wearing the same jeans and a plain white t shirt.

"How's this?" she asks in an annoyed tone.

"That's the one," I say, gawking over my beautiful girlfriend. She smiles shyly and runs her hands through her hair.

All of a sudden, I hear a scream. I drop the book and make eye contact with Jessica, who looks equally terrified.

I race out into the hallway, finding Victoria standing completely still in a puddle of something.

"Oh geez, Tori, you're leaking," I say, slightly backing up. Jessica comes up behind me and gasps.

"But you're not due for another month.." Jessica says slowly.

"What's goin- oh my god," Kayla says, placing her hand over her mouth.

"How is this possible?" Victoria says, terrified.

"You need to go to the hospital," Kayla says, rushing to Victoria's side. She grabs her arm and helps her walk through the front door, past a sleeping Bailey. "Ponyboy, go get Lauren!"

She stops me before I get very far. "And don't say a word to Johnny yet, just in case."

I nod and race back into Lauren's room. She looks at me with fright.

"What's going on? Is everything okay?" she says in a low, pained voice. I slowly shake my head.

"It's Victoria," I say. "Baby Cade is coming."

Her eyes widen as she throws herself out of bed. I try to stop her, but she's walking down the hallway and out to the car. She climbs in the passenger seat beside Kayla, who's driving.

"Ponyboy, listen to me," Kayla says when I reach the car. "Do not say anything about this to Johnny, absolutely nothing. We're going to see what's going on, and if this is real, we will call you. Just go to lunch, and don't say a word until we know for sure."

I nod feverishly before running back inside. Jessica opens her mouth to say something, but I cut her off.

"Nothing about this to Johnny," I say. I glance over at Bailey, who's still sleeping on the couch. "Or Bailey."
