Promise (5sos Fanfic)

Chapter Two

"Where are we going?" Luke asks.

I don't answer. I'm leading him to a big pond that I know is near Lucy's house. It's not breathtaking, but I think it's pretty. I don't know why I feel like showing him this, but I feel like it's right.

"Almost there." I tell him.

We reach the spot where we can see the pond. We are on a small hill, and it just overlooks the water.

"Wow. This is beautiful." Luke says.

His eyes gaze at the water. I can't help but smile at him.

"How'd you know this was here?" He asks.

"Oh, Lucy and I used to come here a lot when we were kids. It's just a memory." I answer.

"I hope that one day, we won't just be a memory to you. That we will all still be friends, no matter how famous we get." Luke says.

He's getting deep. I don't like the mushy, deep stuff. I don't like talking about that stuff. I usually ignore it when someone starts talking like that, but honestly, I enjoy it when Luke gets like that.

"I know. People finally know who you are." I say.

5sos is getting famous, and it's killing me. Before long, they are going to not have time to hang around Lucy and me. They will soon forget us, getting wrapped up in the fame and stuff.

"Don't forget me okay Audrey?" Luke asks.

"I won't, but it's you who shouldn't forget me." I say.

He holds out his pinkie finger at me. "Promise?" Such a second-grade move. But it's cute when he does it.

I intertwine my pinkie with his. "Promise." I say back.

We smile at each other, and I swear time stood still. Cliché, I know.

"Hey! Audrey! Luke! Come here. You got to see this!" Ash comes running up the hill, waving his arms at us.

"Be down in a minute!" Luke shouts back.

"We should probably go." I say, already heading down the hill.

Luke follows me, and we meet up with Ashton.

"Guess what song is on the radio!?" He says excitedly.

Before we can guess anything, he screams the answer. "She Look's So Perfect!"

Luke's mouth drops open in surprise. "Are you serious?" He asks, his smile growing bigger by the second.

"Yep! Come on, I'll show you." Ash runs back towards Lucy's house, Luke and I tagging along behind.

We walk in through the door just as the song ends.

"Oh." Ash says, obviously disappointed.

"It's okay buddy, at least it's on the radio." Luke says, laying his hand on Ashton's shoulder.

"Hey Lukey, could you hand me the remote?" Michael asks, propping himself the opposite direction on the couch.

Luke tosses him the remote, and he catches it.

I roll my eyes. "Come on. Let's do something else." I say.

"Like what?" Ashton asks.

"I don't know. Let's go to dinner. We already wasted half the day here." I reply.

"Fine." He says.

"I can't mate, I have to get home and help my mom clean house." Calum says.

"You're an adult." I say, confused.
