A/N: I read the book The Lost Causes and it was so good! So good in fact that it inspired me to write this one shot. Except that this will be nothing like the actual plot line so there will be no spoilers. P.S. This is a super long one.
Summary: Caspar has a mental illness that is slowly driving him crazy. His parents dropped him off in a mental asylum since he was five. He has seen a multitude of doctors, but he hasn't seen Dr. Sugg. Can he save Caspar?
Warnings: I do not know anything about mental health asylums or what it is like, so anything I write is just guesswork and I do not mean to offend anyone.

Caspar's POV
It's been thirteen years. Thirteen years of sitting in my room. Thirteen years of seeing countless doctors, each one more unsuccessful than the next. I've grown up here. This is all I know as home.
I've met some other kids. Dan and Phil. Dan has been here for as long as I have, but I never really spoke to him. Phil joined just this last year. Those two have gotten along well. In fact, I heard that they were going to get released in the next few months.
I wish I could leave, but apparently I'm too mentally unstable. I don't know what they mean. I am normal. There is nothing wrong with me. It's everyone who works here who is not normal.
Josh agrees with me. Josh is my only friend here. He showed up when I was six. He was in here because he was crazy too. I guess you can say we "bonded" over that. The other kids here don't talk to us. I don't know why. But then again I don't care. I got Josh, and that's all that matters.
"Caspar? Would you come here please?" Tricia, my nurse, called.
I was currently sitting in my room, staring at the black wall. I could see it start to swirl, like a black hole. I was about to jump in when she opened the door and disrupted me. All of a sudden my wall turned to a dark gray.
"Coming," I sighed. I hopped off my bed and followed Tricia. She led me to the examination room. I have been in this room a million times. She went over my weight and blood pressure, making sure everything was normal, then led me to the therapist room.
"Alright Caspar, you are going to be seeing another therapist! His name is Dr. Sugg. He will be here in a little bit." And with that, she left.
I sat in the wooden chair, bored out of my mind. This room was always creepy to me. It was a cement room with no windows. The only light was coming from a single light bulb. Garett, the old man, was sitting in the corner. That was his corner.
"Hey Garett," I greeted. Garett smiled his yellow rotten teeth at me.
I don't know when, but I started noticing Garett when I was around twelve years old. He's always sat in the upper left corner, knees tucked up to his chin, rocking back and forth. He has rags for clothes and has no hair. I don't know how long he's been here, but it's been awhile since he's seen daylight.
The door opened and in walked this short man with chestnut brown hair and baby blue eyes. Okay, he wasn't that short. I'm 6'2," so everyone is short compared to me. But he was a cute kind of short.
"Hello Caspar, my name is Joseph Sugg, but you can call me Joe. How are you feeling today?" he asked.
When he talked, he had this golden-white aura. It's the kind of aura that I imagine an angel would have, and Lord knows that I'm not going to heaven when I die. This Joe guy must be an angel sent from God, to show me what I'm going to miss when I die.
"I'm feeling good. Tell me, what's heaven like?" I asked. I genuinely wanted to know, because if heaven looked anything like Joe, then maybe I'd try harder to make it in.
