I watched and Jason took another bite of the burger that Blade snuck in for him a little earlier. He was whining about the ‘bland hospital food’ constantly. He had come into the ICU with a major laceration to his left side – which apparently quickly healed. The reason why he was still in there was he needed to rest, and wouldn’t when he heard that I was in the ICU too. They had to subdue him. Jason’s blue eyes landed on me, he gulped down, “I’ll be fine.”

I frowned, “I didn’t say that I didn’t think that you would be.”

“You didn’t have to. I heard you,” he smiled gorgeously,

This came as an annoying surprise to me… I scowled at him, “I assumed you weren’t one of those wolves.”

Jason tilted his head to the side, “You are one of those wolves now- Might come in handy actually. Besides I can’t fully hear you yet.” I wondered if my privacy was going to only be limited till the my change, Blade had actually told me that they have a pack connection, and since I’d be initiated into their pack, I would have the connection with them too.

“Don’t worry, there are ways to block them off,” he answered.

“Stop doing that!” I snapped.

His smirk was evident, “I thought you’d be asking why I am able to hear you, even if it is partially.”

“Okay! Oh grandmaster, please enlighten me of the answer,” I melodramatically told him.

“Nope,” Jason replied arrogantly, “And don’t bother asking any of the others either. I’ve told them not to tell you anything. You’ll find out on the full moon anyway.”

“You’re such a dick,” I scowled.

“I thought we already settled this,” he taunted.

I glared at him, “you’re lucky you saved my life… otherwise I would have snapped your neck by now.”

Jason laughed, his eyes twinkling, “I wouldn’t doubt that statement for a second, especially with your new werewolves genes.”

My mind drifted… what am I going to tell Mom? She’s had enough shock in for a lifetime. How would she handle it? She’s probably put me in a mental institute now that I think about it.

“You don’t have to tell her if you don’t want to,” Jason answered quietly, “There won’t be any visible changes to your human side. You might gain a little muscle weight, and have a larger appetite, but that can be easily covered up.”

I chewed my lip at this, as much as I hated lying to my Mom… some things are best kept in the dark from her – namely that her one and only daughter is a werewolf (by night). “You think I’ll be able to pull it off? I’ve never been a great liar.” I admitted to the practical stranger in front of me.

“I know. You proved that clearly when you tried to lie to me back at the club,” Jason admitted. I blushed as I thought back to how hot he looked in that outfit.

“Why do I even bother?!” I exclaimed. But this time a slight smile tore across my face.

Jason smile dropped a bit, and he reached over a hand to cup my cheek, “You’re so beautiful when you smile – It’s breathtaking.”

“Thanks,” I replied softly, looking down. The intense look in his eyes was something that I wasn’t able to hold for long.

He pinched my cheek, “So cute!”

“Hey!”

Jason grinned though, and I grinned back. We fell back into this peaceful silence.

“I know you’re worried about full moon,” he told me after a few moments, “But don’t be. I’m not going to lie that it doesn’t hurt – it hurts like a bitch. That’s why all of us will be there. If the pain gets too much we’ll have to inject your wolf and start at the next full moon again, though I’m not sure if it’ll be easier the next time.”

I took a moment to digest this information, “I’ll just power through the first time… If what you’re saying is right, then there’s no point in doing it twice anyway.”

“You’ll be fine,” he smiled, “I remembered my first change… I was ten, and it was the first day of school. It’s different for us, since were not turned wolves – were born with the gene, so it can activate any time – in a way it’s pretty inconvenient. Anyway, I was in Math at the time, and I started feeling really sick. The teacher let me go, and the first place I went was the woods beside my school. I changed alone, because there was no time.”

“It must have been horrifying,” I gulped, fear clasping at my heart at my own change.

“It was,” he admitted, “I was only ten after all. But it was only then I realized what I wanted to do with my life. As much as it seems irrelevant, I wanted to be a Kings’ general.”

“Is that kind of part of a werewolf army?” I wondered. My mind drifted to how mouth-watering he would look in a SWAT uniform.

“Yes, something like that,” he smirked, “We don’t have SWAT uniforms though.”

“Get out of my head!” I snapped, blushing furiously.

Jason raised his hands up in defense, “It’s not my fault - snippets just come at me!”

I narrowed my eyes at him, “Then ignore them!”

“How can I - When half of your thoughts are about me?” Jason asked arrogantly.

I quick thought came into mind. Getting up I sat at the edge of his bed. Jason quirked an eyebrow at me – I smirked at him, and leaned in, so that my loose hair was inches away from his hospital gown-clad chest, and my lips were inches of his. The beeping of his monitor picked up, “Now, tell me you aren’t thinking about me too?”

“Now that’s not fair,” he groaned, gripping at my arms so I couldn’t get away, “Any red-blooded male would think of said woman when they’re this close to them.”

“Should I take that as a compliment,” I grinned, trying to pull away. His grip tightened, but not to the amount that it actually hurt me.

“Nope, you’re not getting away from me this time. I want to finish what I started in the woods,” he told me, completely seriously with this smoldering, intense gaze that literally melted me. Without another word his lips pressed against mine.

It ended before it even started.

Saph came barging into the room, Jake tailing behind her, “You shouldn’t be out of your – Oops, did we interrupt something.”

“No.”

“Yes.” Both Jason and I (respectively) at the same time – I glared at Jason.

“I was just thanking him,” I lied.

“Oooh, very Spiderman-y,” Jake randomly inputted. We all looked at him strangely, “You know… how the girl kisses him to thank him for saving his life.”

“Forget that,” Sapphire waved off, “You’re lying, what’s going on here.”

Dammit!

“Let’s go get jell-o from the cafeteria. I’m hungry,” I offered, getting off Jason’s bed. This was the actual truth, “I’ll be back soon,” I told him with a small smile on my face, which he returned with his own breath-taking grin.

As Saph, Jake and I walked out of the room together, Saph ordered, “Spill!”

“That guy is a heathen God,” Jake squealed.

I groaned, “You guyyysss.”
