Chapter 7
Annabeth
The next day was a Saturday, which basically meant that Annabeth's dad wouldn't acknowledge her existence until well into the afternoon. She didn't have any plans, which really sucked since she wanted to keep her mind off what happened last night.
Last night.
Oh god.
What a fool if herself she made! Running off like that was completely childish! So what if Percy has a boyfriend, she didn't like him that much anyway!
*Liar.*
Ugh. Now she was crying again. Like she didn't do enough of that last night.
Only Piper and Hazel knew her secret. They would keep it.
Okay. Something to do. For once, revising didn't appeal much to her. Oh wait! She could go for a run. She needed to get her fitness up anyways. Then she could get her Secret Santa present for Frank.
She sighed and wiped her eyes.
At least it was better than moping around all day.
*
She went to sleep that night feeling slightly better. She had gotten Frank an panda onsie, something he'd been desperate for, and some lactose intolerant chocolate. She had spent more than she was supposed to, but Frank was a sweetheart, and a good friend of hers, so oh well. She would wrap them up tomorrow and do her homework. And then at school on Monday she would act like the party never happened.
*
"Bye, Beth."
"Bye, dad."
She got out of the car and was immediately intercepted by Piper and Hazel, so quickly so that Annabeth figured they'd been waiting for her.
"What?" She said, defensive.
"Are you okay?" Hazel asked.
"I haven't heard from you all weekend!" Piper exclaimed.
"I'm completely fine. Why wouldn't I be?"
The two girls exchanged an uneasy look.
"No reason." Piper said.
"C'mon, form's about to start." Hazel said, swiftly changing the subject.
Piper and Hazel were in a different form than she was, hers was further away, so she was a minute late. She smiled an apology at Mr. Brunner, and he waved it off.
"I haven't started the register yet, anyways. Take your seat." He said kindly. Phew.
As she walked to her seat, next to Grover. She glanced at Percy, and saw him glaring at her. Oh god. He obviously thought she had something against homosexuality by the way she acted on Friday. She would have to clear that up, if she could stand being within a metre of him.
She chatted quietly with Grover, who told her that he missed her at the party, but that he had had a great time with Juniper, his girlfriend. Annabeth just said that she had left early.
Her classes were too advanced for Percy, and during break she just messed around in the I.T rooms. The big problem was lunch. She sat at her usual seat with her friends, and thankfully Percy sat with Nico. Then wrapped his arms around him. Then kissed him. Maybe not so thankfully.
"Annabeth! Annabeth! Annabeth Chase! You awake?" Jason was waving his hand in front of her face.
"What?!" She jumped.
"I asked you what you to at the party!" He said, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Nothing. You?" She said poking him in the ribs.
"Well that, my friend, is strictly between me and Piper." He smiled widely.
"Piper! What did you and Jason do at the party?!" She shouted across the table.
"Nothing naughty and don't let Jason say otherwise!" Piper called back.
Annabeth grinned triumph-fully. Jason pouted.
"Bet ya believed me there, for a seconded."
"Whatever you say, Grace."
"So guess who I got of with!" Leo asked to the whole table.
Everyone laughed.
"The floor?" Frank smirked.
"No! Not this again! Shut up! And for your information, it was Calypso!"
"The Caribbean music girl?" Piper snickered.
"No! I mean, yeah, but don't call her that!"
"Was she drunk?" Hazel inquired.
"No! Why have you gotten so mean lately?"
Hazel smiled.
"But she's too hot for you." Jason thought out loud.
"Hey! I happen to be devilishly handsome, and have a charming personality!"
"If you insist." Annabeth had had enough with this conversation.
"Gossip?" Piper asked the group.
Jason pointed to the table where Percy and Nico were kissing, their food forgotten.
They all watched as the teacher on lunch duty walked over to them. They all leaned closer.
"Mr Jackson! Mr di Angelo! What do you think you're doing?!" The teachers only called you by your surnames when they were really pisses. This should be interesting.
"Nothing. Just kissing." Percy was trying hard to look innocent.
"The school rules-" The teacher started.
"They school rules say that a girl and a boy aren't allowed to kiss in public. Do you see any girls here?"
"That- that's not the point..."
"We are following the school rules, sir." Nico said sweetly.
"No vaginas here, sir." Percy added.
Nico nodded sincerely. "I remember."
The teacher looked lost for words.
"Just- don't- stop it! Eat your lunch then get some privacy."
The teacher walked off. Percy and Nico started laughing, the so did everyone on our table. That was when the boys noticed us. They both grinned madly, then got up and high five-d us. We were all in fits. We got a lot of glares from surrounding tables and the staff table.
That lunch they all hanged around in the sixth form centre, even Nico, although he wasn't allowed to be there. Somehow she found herself next to Percy.
"Why are you avoiding me?" He asked.
"I'm not. Why do you keep on glaring at me?" She countered.
"Touché. And I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the fact your a homophobic arsehole?"
That stung. "I'm not homophobic! Who do you think I am?!"
"Why did you run away at the party then?!"
"You really don't know anything, do you?"
"Don't talk to me like I'm in-superior to you! And what on earth are you talking about?"
"We've known each other since we were twelve. We've been best friends for years."
"So you want to protect me? I can handle myself, thanks."
"I know that! No, Percy. I wanted *you*. That's your answer. Happy now?"
I turned and ran off. I was pretty sure the whole room was looking me.
How can things go so wrong?
