I sigh as the rain ticks down on the windows of the car. Dad's driving with mum next to him and I'm in the backseat, just like the old days. They're taking me to Manchester, where my university is. After being a student there for 2 years and travelling up and down to Holmes Chapel every single day, I put an end to all the trains by renting my own flat there. Today is moving day and my parents are coming with me to help move the last bit of my stuff there.

"Looks like we're going to have to speed up while unloading the car or everything's going to be soaked." Dad announces while taking a left turn into the street I'll be living from today onwards. The big building comes into view. It's one of those mass-built ugly buildings that no one wants to look at, but the apartments are surprisingly nice and the rent is not too high either.

"I'd hoped the weather would allow us to have a drink somewhere outside." Mum says, a bit disappointed. The weather annoys her just as much as it annoys me, we're very alike, because it is supposed to be summer but for the past week all we've had is cold and rain.

"Well, let's go." Dad says as he jumps out of the car and starts unloading the last boxes as we get out quickly to help.

"Alright, come visit us in the weekends if you can. Be careful and have fun!" Dad says as he hugs me.

Mum cries in my shoulder as I hold her.

"Mum, it's okay. You'll get used to it and I'll try to come over as much as I can alright? Now go with dad. I love you."

I roll my eyes as they walk out the door. Mum is way too overprotective. The good thing is that it's a sign she loves me and you kind of get used to it after 20 years of living under the same roof as her. It may sound lame but I am really going to miss them. I'm on my own now, which is a scary idea. I wish I'd have more friends that lived by themselves so I could ask them for help.

"This place is a mess." I say as I look around at the boxes. School starts in 10 days so you'd think I'd have plenty of time to unpack, but I also have work and I'm planning on giving each room a paint job since I hate the colours. The painting can wait though, as long as I have desk to study on and I actually walk - something I can't right now due to all the boxes - , I'll be fine. I decide to unpack clothes and bedroom things first before moving on to the kitchen. After having finished the most necessary things for both cooking and sleeping I neatly stack and organise the remainder of the boxes in the small guest bedroom to be unpacked later.

Next weekend my mum and dad will take me to Ikea to sort out a new desk to put in the guest bedroom. The rest of the furniture is already in the house but chairs are standing all over the living space and basically everything is one big mess. At least I got the boxes out of the way.

I check my phone diary to see what shift I have tomorrow. Night shift that is. Gotta love the night shifts right? Oh well shouldn't have started working at the hospital then right?

"Oh right! Groceries!" I say out loud after pacing around the room and organising a bit more, thinking about what else I planned to do today.

I grab my jacket and go outside, it's supposed to be summer but looking at the sky the next autumn is already kicking in again. Outside of the building I realise I don't know how to get to Tesco from here, only from uni. I look down the street, both ways, to see if there's anything familiar. Nothing. I am about to turn around and grab my phone from my flat when someone bumps into me.

"Oh, I'm really sorry!" She's got dark brown hair and let's be honest her outfit is absolute goals. She looks around my age, maybe a little older but has a sweet, kind voice. "I was too focused on my phone again." She rolls her eyes at her own behaviour and giggles.
