Cassidy
The boys basically had me on watch. Actually they had me on a leash, literally. A small dog collar acted as a bracelet and a leash was attached and was held by Luke.
I wasn't allowed out of their sight as we sat in the ICU waiting room. Even when I had to go to the bathroom, Michael went in with me. But after waiting for 3 hours and it being 11pm, the boys have fallen asleep. Sure, I was tired too but I refused to sleep without knowing Ashton's condition.
"Are you here for a Mr. Irwin?" A nurse holding a clipboard came up to me.
"Yes, how's he doing?" I asked eagerly.
"He's doing well. He's responding to the medications and we're capable of replacing the amount of blood lost. The doctors had to pump his stomach and we've giving him fluids through an IV. But like I said, he's responding well. You're lucky we've got to him just on time." She smiled and I felt relieved.
"Thank you. Is he awake now? Can I go see him?" I asked hopefully.
"Yes but he really needs to rest, so it'll have to be quick." She nodded and I slipped off the collar on my arm before she had lead me to his room.
Walking into his room I saw him sitting up and an IV was attached to his arm.
"Hey." He smiled gently.
"What the hell?" I asked crossing my arms. I was trying to keep my wall up but just the sight of him tore me down.
"Cass, I'm so sorry." He frowned and I couldn't help it.
"Don't be. Let's just talk about it later. You really scared me." I said walking to the side of his bed. He slid over so there was room for me and I got in the bed with him.He wrapped his right arm around me and I cuddled into his chest. It's only been a day but I really missed his touch.
"I love you. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." He rested his head on top of mine.
"I love you." I said unacknowledging his apology.
"How are the boys doing?" He asked.
"Managing. They're all asleep now but they were really paranoid. They had me on a leash." I pouted. It wasn't fun.
"Why?" He asked laughing at the leash part.
"Well I was a mess and I wanted to get some air after the paramedics took you and they didn't want me to do something I'll regret so they put a collar on my arm with a leash and Luke watched me. They were scared to lose me like they almost lost you."
"I'm tired." Ashton yawned as if I didn't say anything. I didn't mind.
"Go to sleep. I'll leave." I moved to get up but he held me tighter.
"Stay. Please." He whispered and I knew he was falling asleep.
"I will. I'll always stay." And we fell asleep. For tonight we were alive and I hoped it would remain that way.
(A/N- I could've probably made this chapter longer but I'm tired and I don't want to leave you guys off with nothing. Like I said before I have finals soon and I need to study and focus on school but it's almost break so I'll be back! I'll try to post 11 tomorrow and that'd probably be it for a little while.
