[Brandon's POV]

Easing my almost out of control temper, I left my seat and strode towards the floor-to-ceiling window of my office. Outside, heavy clouds formed and a distant lightning followed by thunder shook the earth. The weather as gloomy as my heart.

Rebecca. I breathed. She could never play the role of a mother in reality. She sucked at it. But she did it best in front of the audience on stage where she wished to be up until now, discontented of the life father provided for her. I could never forget the moment I caught her having sex with another man in our own house when I was eight. And I often watch her and dad fighting.

She was once a renowned operatic singer and actress on the Europe stage who portrayed different characters. Meeting my father and giving birth to me deprived her of her dreams and despised me for that. She's like a bird with broken wings. She wanted to fly high but she couldn't.

Although I had everything my heart desired still there's a nagging discontent and maiming ache I couldn't move on with.

It had something to do with dad who died in prison. It was a foolish suicide for me because he admitted doing it with his own hands. So was my mother told me. But I doubted it. There's something more behind it. Well, I wasn't around when dad was arrested. I was around eight or nine that time. I couldn't remember anything at all and Rebecca refused to let me bury my father.

Someone cleared a throat that woke me up from my deep musings. When I turned,he stood just a few steps away behind me. His stance sure, his face impassive, and his eyes direct. His face was heavily covered with thick facial hairs that made him appear devilishly dark but added to the character he was trying to portray.

"Good morning, sir." He bowed slightly. I retraced my tracks back to my desk and seated myself. He followed and sat on one of the cushions in front of my table.

"Got anything substantial Blade?"

"Negative, sir." He answered tersely. Hearing that my blood boiled. "We already ransacked Wilson's house but found none."

"Have you searched his office?"

"Not yet sir. Some of his employees are still there refusing to leave the company hoping that soon Wilson will be proven innocent."

A sinister laugh broke out from my lips.

Fools! Loyalty is a weakness! What they didn't know is that he's not at all the good man they thought he is. And his company's beyond recovery."

Wilson Johnson allegedly led a drug syndicate many years ago who's behind all the illegal transactions with drug lords from different parts of the world. He was one of the NYPD's watch list many years ago. The problem was that authorities possessed insufficient evidence to incriminate him. But that's history, he was young then. Now, he seemed to have led a better life and managed to escape the syndicate.
