Takes place in season 1. What would have happened if Karen Wheeler found El?
Third person
'It was in that moment Mike knew he had Fu**ed up'
He sat on the couch, with Eleven, her face looking terrified.
"Who is she?" Mrs Wheeler asked.
"Eleven," Mike answered for the scared girl.
"Why was she in the basement?"
"I found her," He continued quietly,"while looking for Will."
"What? Were the others with you?"
"N-no ma'am."
Her eyes softened as she looked at the terrified girl clinging to her son.
"Okay, honey can you speak?" She directed towards Eleven.
She nodded.
"Can you speak for me?"
She shook her head.
Mrs. Wheeler looked at her son, confused.
"If she can speak, why isn't she talking?"
"She has to trust you before she can talk to you," Mike explained,"she doesn't even talk to me much. Lucas and Dustin, I don't think they know she can talk."
"Great," Karen muttered.
Mike quickly saw the frustration in his mother's eyes, "El, you can trust my mom. I can't promise you she will believe you, but she won't be too mad about it."
The girls grip on Mike's shirt loosened, but was still very tight.
Mike looked down at Eleven and looked back at his mom.
He looked back at Eleven, "Do you want me to tell her?"
Eleven shook her head.
She gave a skeptical glance towards Mrs. Wheeler.
She pulled down the sleeve of her shirt to reveal her tattoo.

Mrs. Wheeler's eyes widened.
"Your name is Eleven?"
"El for short!" Mike cut in.
Eleven cracked a small smile.
"Mike," the small girl said.
"Want me to explain?"
Eleven nodded. Meanwhile, Mrs. Wheeler looked in shock that her son could gain this girls full trust, when she couldn't get him to get his friends out of the house, on time, and home safely.
"Okay, this is Eleven. We call her El. I found her out by where Will went missing. She grew up in Hawkins Lab, and... Well, you wanna show her?" Mike finished gently.
Eleven gave a small smile, signifying that she would.
"But Mom, you can't freak out. That's why no-one can know."
Mrs. Wheeler nodded.
Mike stood up and picked up a book on the coffee table.
"El, you know what to do."
Mike sat the book down on the table.
Mrs. Wheeler looked at the girl, she had calmed down a bit, but that look soon changed.
As the girl concentrated, a small trickle of blood fell from her nose.
Mrs. Wheeler gasped, ready to help the small girl.
Mike raised his hand, telling his mother it was fine.
Mrs. Wheeler could see out the corner of her eye, the book floating in the air.
The book was merely two feet off of the table, when it dropped.
Eleven looked up at Mrs. Wheeler, shyly.
Mike sat back down at her side and immediately clings back to him.
"Want me to explain?" Mike asked the girl clinging to him.
She nodded, smiling.
"This is why she doesn't trust people. They kept her locked up. When she escaped, well that's when I found her. She's been living in the blanket fort ever since."
Mrs. Wheeler's face softened.
"Okay. Honey, have you had anything to eat today?"
"No, not since the Eggos this morning." Mike responded.
"You like those things?" Mrs. Wheeler asked.
Eleven nodded her head, eagerly.
"I thought Mike and Holly were the only two to eat them," Mrs. Wheeler chuckled.
The boy could feel Eleven's grip loosed.
"Okay, I'm gonna make her some real food. We need to get her a real bed and some clothes. Are those yours?"
Mike nodded, Eleven smiled.
After Mrs. Wheeler walked off, Eleven laid her head on Mike's shoulder.
"See, she won't hurt you. She might act like it, but she won't do much more than get mad. Nothing physical."
Mike smiled at the girl.
He laid his head on top of hers as her breathing slowed down. She was asleep.
Mike's Mother came back.
"Okay, why was she in the basement?"
"I found her in the woods, I was gonna get her to stay the night and the next day to walk around the house and knock on the door. She said no, so I said okay. From then on she has been hidden in the basement"
