The following morning Carl had wanted to go off again, he was in need to finding this stranger. Lucille didn't hesitate on saying yes, as both teens again left Alexandria.
The air was warm, both teens not bothering to make a conversation. They both were dealing with their own thoughts, mixing them with each-others would not help.

A growl made them snap out of their haze and both headed towards the noise. Upon entering the scene, a walker was stuck inside a branch as it reached for a white plastic bag. Seconds later a man came up and stabbed the walker. Carl took a step forward and called for the mans attention "Hey!"

The startled man looked towards the two teenagers, already feeling scared for their next actions towards him. Carl kept walking forward with Lucille just following his steps.

"It was my dad. There – There were warning shots above your head. He wasn't shooting at you —I'm Carl, and she's Lucille"

The tattered man looked hesitant to answer back "Siddiq"

Carl held up a bag towards the dirty man "Food and water"

"Why?"

"I guess you – you were talking about something your mom said...about helping people. And my mom told me that you got to do what's right. It's hard to know what that is sometimes, but sometimes it's not" Carl flung the bag just steps away from the man. He walked over and retrieved it, quickly opening the bottle of water.

"Thanks"

"Glad I found you"

"You were looking for me?"

"Yeah, I–I scavenged the sardines and other stuff. Me and Lucille we're in a community. I'm gonna ask you a few questions. I need you to answer honestly, okay?"

"Okay"

"How many walkers have you killed? –I know it's hard to keep track–"

"237"

"Really?"

"Give or take a couple"

"How many people have you killed?"

"One"

"Why?"

"The dead tried to kill him, but...they didn't"

Carl nodded but Lucilles voice made him glance at her "You're making walker traps, is that how you killed so many?"

Siddiq glanced back at the dead walker and then back to the teens "It's only part of it. My mom thought or hoped that killing them would...free their souls —You know, maybe, maybe she was right"

"Doing that doesn't that just make things harder for you while you're trying to survive?" Carl asked

"I–I don't know. But, you gotta honor your parents right?"

"If we were honoring our dads we wouldn't be talking right now. And definitely wouldn't be bringing you back to our community"

"Come on, let's get going before they come looking for us" Lucille tugged on Carls flannel

"Lets take you to Alexandria"

The walk back was silent, for the three of them had nothing else to say. Siddiq was a strange man but it was clear to see that he had no bad intentions. Hell, the man was surviving for his deceased mother.

Walker growls was heard making the three go head towards the sound. The three squatted down beside a tree debating on either just passing by or go on and kill them. A deer was the source of attraction for the walkers, three being in total.

"Okay, for your mom" Carl spoke as he took out his knife, Lucille and Siddiq following his actions

The three walkers turned their attention towards them, leaving the deer behind. Siddiq easily stabbed one, as did Lucille. Carl held off the walker but drove his knife into the back of its head. More growls were heard behind them, as more walkers began to swarm them.

"Just go! You don't have to do this!" Siddiq yelled at the two teens as he fumbled with a walker. Carl had been thrown to the ground and was struggling on keeping the walker away. Lucille has been far away from the two, also struggling on retrieving back her knife that she had dropped.
Another walker made its way towards Carl as Siddiq had just killed another one but was immediately attacked by a new one. The walker was killed and just as he was about to kill another one, Lucille had beat him to it. Two gunshots were heard as Carl had killed the two that were on him.

All three were left in a panting mess, Lucille going over towards Carl "You, you okay?"

"Yeah, you?" Carl breathed out as he took hold of Lucilles helping hand "Perfect"

"You could have left" Siddiq told the teens "Guys"

"We're responsible for you now. That's how it works"

"I don't want to make any trouble. Your dad didn't want anything to do with me"

"He didn't, but...sometimes kids have to find their own way to show the parents the way"

The three again stood silent, Carl picking up his backpack and leading the way with the other two following behind him.
