Jason's pov

My father is alive...he actually is alive. This can't be true. They have to be lying. Maybe they're planning something. Carter must've threatened them or something to lure me in if his plan to kill me didn't work. Nova wouldn't do that. I rush out of the bedroom and I go outside to the front porch. I'm pacing back and forth trying to understand how my father is still alive. He was killed. Was it all just a cover up?

"Jason" I hear and turn around to see Nova. She walks over next to me on the porch and just watches me pace. "He's really alive" She said.

"I don't understand" I said.

"His death...it was all just a cover up. Carters father threatened him and you guys. He was gonna kill your family. Your dad was protecting you guys so he joined the other side." She said and I felt so much anger.

"Carters father is dead, right?" I said.

"Your dad killed him. That's why Carter has been holding him hostage. He wants revenge on your gang, Jason. Serious revenge." She said.

"Yeah, I've realized that. I want revenge too" I said pissed off.

"Maybe you can get the revenge you want" She said and I looked to her confused. "I made a deal with your father. He helped me and now I have to help him. I know where you can find him." She said. Why is she helping me? Why is she still even here? She tried escaping just yesterday and now she's here helping me?

"Why are you doing this?" I said taking a step closer to her.

"I don't know" She said.

"That's not a good reason" I said.

"Jason, I don't know. I don't know why i'm helping you, but I am. Just accept my damn help" She said. I just stare at her and she stares back. Her eyes are so soft and I know I fucked up. I ruined this girls life for good. She's stuck in this criminal life now and it's only going to get worse from here.

"Jason" She said with serious concern in her tone.

"What's wrong?" I said.

"It's Carter" She said and my blood started to boil.

"What about him?" I said.

"He wants me back. He's going to do whatever he has to do to get me back to him. You can't let that happen. Please don't let it happen" She said and I put my hand on her cheek.

"I swear I won't let him come anywhere near you." I said and she nodded. I just stare at her and then I stare at her lips. They look so soft. I catch myself leaning in a little but I pull away real fast and put my hand back to my side. What am I doing? I can't do this. I barely know her. I can't do this again.

I walk past her leaving her out on the porch alone.  I go back into the cabin and walk past everyone to go talk to Hannah.  I haven't had a one-on-one with her in years.  I open the door slowly and see her sitting up on the bed.  She looks over to me and I walk in closing the door behind me.
