Chapter 9: Can't deal

It took a few seconds for the pain of the fall to actually kick in, because she was numb from shock. The toddler could hear frantic yelling above her and the barking sounds of the dogs surrounding her. She felt like she was hearing a whirring electrical noise in her brain, as everything became blurry.
Zig's Pov
" I can't believe I did that! " a horrific thought flew in the boys head.
Zig continued to stare at the floor until he became aware of the little girl crying on the floor and hiccuping for her big brother. He attempted to stand her up, which caused the little girl to scream in pain and fall back on the floor. He tried again, this time holding her by the arms, hovering her above the floor, causing her to scream even louder. He got a look at one of her legs which seemed oddly bent.
... She broke her leg..
He very carefully picked her up, not knowing what to do in situations like this where there's a hurt toddler.
Tori almost had to hold back a smirk when she saw the look of pain on the toddlers face. She stared at the little girl who continued to cry, starting to get annoyed by how loud she was starting to get.
" Here, give her these " she said, extended her hand towards her brother, showing him a few white pills in her palm. Zig looked up at her cautiously,
" Why.. What are they? And what's wrong with them? " he questioned, Tori shrugged, "Nothing, they're just pain pills. I just thought you'd want her to stop crying. " Tori explained in an irritated voice. He stared at her for a bit, " are they even safe for her to take?" he questioned. Tori exploded, " Who cares! As long as it gets her to shut up then it doesn't matter ! " She leaned across the small girls body and slammed her arm down on her hurt leg. Causing Bella to scream out in pain. " God, Tori stop it!! " Zig yelled. " Told you she needs them, " Tori said confidentally, as Zig swiped the pills from her hands. Bella tried to keep her mouth closed as Zig tried forcing the pill in her mouth, she whimpered and tried to keep her mouth closed, hoping he'd get the message that she didn't want the pill, ( especially since she would never trust anything that came from Tori herself.. )
If she wasn't in such immense pain, she would've been able to thrash around and fight but she was powerless. Zig held a water bottle in front of the toddlers mouth, before quickly popping in the pill, then washing it down with water.
" Here, this'll help you.. "  she heard the boy murmur. The little girl coughed at the nasty taste of the medicine, and felt her vision getting blurry.

Michael's POV
After moving from the sidewalk to inside his house, Michael sat down as officer asked him a few questions. " Do you know of anyone who would want to harm you or your family? " the cop asked, writing in his notepad. Michael knew he had lots of enemies, I mean he was KNOWN around town and there were always jealous people. But I mean, what are you gonna tell a fucking cop? " Yeah I know a bunch of people who have it out for me cuz I sold a bunch of drugs and stole their business! "
No! He had to play it cool, " No, no one I know knows that I have a sister. Except for Ricky."
" Well, something that we should also consider is that this may not be a random act. It could be that if this was a PLANNED abduction, then that'd mean the abductor/abductors were likely following you for a while. Do you get what I'm saying? "
Michael nodded. - ( he actually had no idea what that meant )
" IF that's the case then what we usually know is that the perpetrator(s) likely stalked you. They got your daily routine figured out and they could have just simply waited for an of open opportunity.. " the officer continued, " Have you noticed anyone following you recently? Someone who you've never seen before that just suddenly appeared? "
The teens eyes widened at that. " You mean, you think she was targeted? "
" It's possible, but I doubt the case is that she just walked off by herself.. "
" yeah, no shit, " Michael muttered to himself.

" Do you even know what this could mean for your sister, son? "
Michael exploded
" First of all I'm not your god damn son and second of fucking all, I don't know, I don't FUCKING KNOW! "
The room went quiet, " do you always get angry like that, so- uhh, boy? " questioned the officer in front of him.
Before the sassy teenager could respond they heard the door open quickly, with an out of breath cop looking man running in. " Sir, we've got a report from a neighbor that they had seen a male and a female, both teenagers, walking away with a small child who looked to be approximately 3-4 years old. "
Michael tensed, " a guy and girl? What the fuck? " he thought. " did they happen to see a face or identify the girl specifically? " the officer questioned,
" no, the neighbor only saw that the child seemed to be bleeding and was then wrapped in a sweater as she was being carried by the male. "
Just then, Ricky spoke up, after staying mute in the kitchen with the other officers surrounding him awkwardly. " Wait! I've seen these weird looking kids a few times that have been hanging around the bus stop lately, but it's the middle school bus stop and they look like high schoolers! "
The officer merely ignored him, not understanding the relevance.
UNTIL he said, " it's a guy and a girl! They looked related but they seemed like they were a couple! "
The sighting of a teenage male and female in the area near Michael's house AND the area near where Bella was taken, brought a smidge of confirmation in what the neighbor had been saying.
