A Few Years in the Future

"Mommy come on!" I called, running ahead of my mother. We were heading towards the Order of the Stone's temple to hang out with my aunts Jesse, Feona, Juliana, and Olivia, along with my uncle Axel. Yesterday was my birthday! I am now 6 years old! Mommy told me that I needed to come with her to the temple for something, but she won't tell me what. She said that daddy was already there waiting for them! Can't wait to see my daddy, aunts, and uncle!

"Hold up sweetie!" mommy called, trying to catch up to Jessica. "You know that I don't have as much energy as you do."

"Sorry mommy, I'll wait," I said, stopping where I was and waited for mommy to catch up.

"It's okay Jess," mommy says, catching up to Jessica. "Looks like we are here. You ready to see your daddy?"

"Yes!" I exclaimed. "I'm always ready to see him mommy! Along with my aunts and uncle."

"That's my daughter," mommy says, then thinks, "Now think Petra. How can you tell Jessica that today marks 6 years since Rueben died? I have never told her about him because then she would be really upset, and I hate seeing her upset." Jesse told Petra that she wanted to be the one who told Jessica about Rueben, and Petra nodded. He was Jesse's pet, so she had a right to tell her. She just didn't want her to be told it the day after her birthday. Jesse said that the quicker they tell her, the less stress that gets off the crew's shoulders. 

"Mommy you okay?" I asked, wondering what mommy was thinking about.

"What?" mommy says, perking up. "Oh, nothing to worry about sweetie. Now let's get moving to the temple. The thing that you had to tag along for is waiting."

"Yay!" I screamed, starting to run again. Mommy laughed from behind and started to run as well. Soon, we were at the door and I knocked really hard on it. Daddy opened it.

"Daddy!" I squealed, jumping into his loving arms.

"Hey cutie," he replied back, hugging me tightly. "Come on in Petra." He got out of the way so mommy could get through. I am so happy!

Daddy let me down as we walked through the hallway. There were tons of cool things that mommy and daddy told me about. They said that they came from all the adventures that they went on as the Order of the Stone. There were also things that I collected on the shelves too. Mommy said that they were important in some way that I won't understand until I'm older and I just nodded in response. I was looking around when I saw a poster of a pig with a raw porkchop in a frame above it.

"Ooo, food!" I squealed, running.

"Jessica no!" aunt Jesse cried, running after me. I was just about to grab the raw porkchop when an alarm went off and a cage came and trapped me in. I started to cry.

"Jessica..." daddy says, holding that amulet they always have, which was glowing now.

"Mommy..." I cried as the cage reset itself. "What was that for?"

"Sweetie, that raw porkchop is special, and no one is allowed to eat it, so that's why the trap got you. We tried to warn you, but you were too late," Mommy explained, stroking my blond hair.

"Why is it so special mommy and daddy?" I asked, drying my tears.

"You ready to tell her Jesse?" daddy says, looking up at Aunt Jesse.

"Yes Lukas," Aunt Jesse says, her head low. What's wrong with Aunt Jesse? "Jessica sweetie come here and sit on my lap."

I did as I was told and sat on her lap. Is she going to tell me a story?

"Now Jessica, what I am about to tell you is very serious and is really hard for me to talk about, so don't laugh okay?" She told me.

"Okay Aunt Jesse," I replied, looking in her eyes.

"Okay," she said. "So, it all started when this big wither storm was going on, destroying everything that got in its way. It destroyed tons of homes and buildings. It even destroyed the home that me, Aunt Olivia, and Uncle Axel lived in."

"They were on a journey to stop the wither storm," Aunt Feona says, sitting next to Aunt Jesse as she talked. "There was also a pig named Rueben, and he was a big part of the whole mission. He helped Aunt Jesse defeat it."

"They were inside, defeating it," Aunt Juliana continued, sitting next to Aunt Jesse. "It was a very hard task for your aunt Jesse. She was just about to strike the command block one more time to kill it when one of the tentacles waked the weapon she was using out of her hands and landed on the floor. Rueben ran up to it and Jesse told him to get it to her. He put his 'game face as Jesse said' on and picked up the weapon. He ran and leaped across the tentacles to get to her. Soon, Jesse had the weapon once again, and he was about to jump back down, when the wither storm grabbed him by the hind legs. Your aunt tried her hardest to hold on to him, but she let go of him at the same time it did, and he fell in this big hole. Jesse screamed and struck the command block, and that was the end of all of it. She fell in the hole too, but she was lucky enough to land in water, while Rueben landed on land. He was badly hurt. Soon, he died and turned into what you saw in the frame before you got trapped. Ever since then, your aunts Jesse and Feona were really sad."

"Aunt Jesse..." I said, looking at her, who was crying at that point. "I'm so sorry..." I started to cry as well, and we stayed there, crying.

"Today marks 6 years since he died," mommy said, picking me up from Aunt Jesse's lap. "We didn't want to tell you until you were 10, but she said that you had the right to know sooner rather than later. Now that you understand why the trap got you, promise me that you will never do that again. For Jesse."

"I promise mommy and Aunt Jesse," I said, bowing my head in her direction and she did the same.

"Now let's party! Yesterday was your birthday!" daddy says, coming up behind mommy and throwing confetti in the air. Now that's what I was hoping would happen! Let's get this party started! Woo hoo!

Hey guys! Welcome to the first part of Maybe All We Are's a Secret, the sequel of Maybe All We Are's a Photograph! This story will be in the view of Jessica, Petra and Lukas' daughter. It takes place a few years after the first book. Jessica went from being a few days old to 6 years old! What a time lasp from one book to the other am I right? Thanks for reading!
