I awoke from my deep slumber to a violent shake, my earth tone iris flutter open to take sight of my groggy older brother, Dallas. I sat up halfway, propping myself up with my elbow, "Dally," I got interrupted by a yawn. "Wha-What's going on? Why'd you shake me awake?" I rubbed the tiredness out of my eyes so I could get a better look at him.

"Harley, we gotta go." He began to throw my belongings in a duffle bag, "The cops were called Har, we gotta go before they get here. They could take you away from me and I can't let them do that to me, man." He didn't loose focus. My eyes widen by the information I had obtained and began to process. I quickly got up from my sloppy bed and began to help him.

"Dally, we gotta go now," I began to get flustered, he stopped me to try and calm me down. "Dal-."

He grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me. "Will you relax? You gotta learn how to keep your cool."

I began to get mad. "I intend to keep the only family I have left, Dallas!" I stormed out of my bedroom in one of Dally's old t-shirts and short shorts carrying my duffle bag in one hand and holding Dally's car keys in the other. Dally trailed behind me. "I'm driving, where are we going?" I turned my head slightly so he could hear with my mouth was trying to get across.

"Curtis' house, I already called em'." I nodded as we reached the car. I threw my duffle bag into the back seat, so did Dally. I slide into the front seat, starting the engine. Before Dally could close the door I  slammed my foot on the gas peddle. "Are you stupid or somethin'?"

"I'm related to you, Dally. That should answer your question," I rolled my eyes as I raced to the Curtis' house.

We finally reached the Curtis' house with a screeching halt. I grabbed my bag and gave the keys to Dally. He hurried me along to get inside.

As soon as I stepped foot into the Curtis' house, the warm air engulfed me. Ridding my skin of the brisk autumn atmosphere. my ears were filled with the yelling and hollering of the gang, welcoming us to come in and to take part in the festivities. I walked in and Darry approached Dally and I, telling us were we would sleep for the night. Dally would take the couch and I would take the recliner.

I felt a pair of eyes watching me. I looked over at the kitchen table were a game of poker was being played. The chilling eyes of Ponyboy Curtis burned a hole through me. I ignored him for the time being. He and I fancied each other, but we were never a thing. The only reason being Dally. Pony was scared of what he might do to him when he finds out he's going with his baby sister. I looked down and chuckled at the though of it. Dally went over to the table and joined the game.

"You wanna play with us, Harley?" TwoBit asked me holding up a few cards set aside for me.

I shook my head taking a seat on the couch, "I'm alright, Two. I think I'm gonna close my eyes for a few." He nodded understandably. I laid down on the couch, dozing off into a deep sleep.

The next morning I woke up on the floor. I looked around to see how I ended up there and Dally passed with flying colors. He pushed me off.

Rolling my eyes, I got up off of the floor and stumbled into the kitchen. My joints waking up with the sounds of pops and clicks. I was startled by a cleaned up Pony.

"Good morning, sunshine," he greeted me with a warm smile.

I looked at him still a little spooked, "good morning, Pony."

"Would you like some breakfast?" he asked hopefully as he was making it for himself. I nodded as I opened the icebox for some orange juice.

"Yes, please. I'll make Dally's, so when your done I'll take care of the mess." I poured the sweet orange substance into a small glass, "would you like some?" Pony shook his head. I put the carton back and Sodapop wandered in in his work attire. Steve barged into the house yelling at Johnny and TwoBit about who knows what.

Darry walked in looking at them with an annoyed expression. Dally, however, got up and made his way over to me. "Hey Har," he slurred in his morning voice.

I let out a deep breath, "Good morning, Dally. Did you want something?" I took a sip of my orange juice as I waited to hear what it was that he wanted.

"Nothin', I jus-," he looked around for a moment, "I don't remember." He chuckled and sat down at the table. Pony gave me my plate of eggs, one for me and one for Dally.

"Pony, I told you I'd make Dally's breakfast," I whispered so Dally wouldn't hear.

Pony shrugged, "its fine, Har, just eat before it gets cold." he made a gesture for me to sit down at the table. I thanked him and sat down across from Dally, handing him his plate.

"Oh, thank you Harley." I gave a small smile and nodded my head. Dally won't eat breakfast unless I make it for him. That's why I couldn't tell him that Ponyboy made them.

I knew what Dally had in store today: Sylvia. Her and I don't get along very well. I keep telling Dal to drop her, but he always tells me she reels him back in somehow. I shake my head at the fact of him wasting his time over a broad that doesn't appreciate him.

Before I knew, Dally was already up and halfway out the door before I heard him yell, "hey, I'll see ya later Harley." I looked up toward his direction a little frustrated.

"Dal I-," I shook my head and closed my eyes. the boys could see I was upset with my brother and his actions. I felt a hand being gently placed on my shoulder. I looked to see who the hand belonged to, and it was Pony who sat down beside me.

"It's just Dally," he placed his plate on the table, "you know that."

I nodded with a deep sigh as I looked at him hopefully, "yea." I gently touched his hand that lived on my shoulder, "I know."
