After getting tackled by Clementine, I decided to skip dinner and turn in for the night. I didn't feel like facing the others right now and my ego took a big hit from Clementine.
How was I supposed to know she's wasn't a walker? She didn't fucking speak until I held a knife to her. Whatever. She can kiss my ass. Her and her shitty attitude.
After replaying the events that just took place in my head, I found that I wasn't tired at all. I dug into my back pocket and brought out my cane so I can get to the little part of woods that were beside the bath house. The others were inside eating so, I don't have to worry about them seeing me use my cane. I decided to work on my aim with my two hunting knives and let off steam on some pine trees. After sitting down my stuff by a bush and commanding Sam to sit and stay, I walked around to get a feel of my surroundings.
Okay. There's a tree 23 steps to my left, one 25 to my right, and another one 37 steps in front of me. Easy peasy.
I took in a deep breath and took off my sunglasses and put them in my coat pocket. It felt nice to take them off and not having to worry about anyone seeing my unfocused brown eyes. I rolled my shoulders back and cracked my neck side to side before grabbing one of my knives. The metal of the knife was cool on my sweating hands and it laid comfortably in my hand. I pulled back my arm and released the knife to the left of me, the sound of it whistling through the air.
Chunk!
Hit
I turned to my right and released my other knife, sending it to its target.
Chunk!
Hit
I walked 23 steps to my left to retrieve my knife for my last target and turned back towards it. I was about to fling the knife but, the wind started blowing and I picked up a familiar scent.
Vanilla. Mmm, looks like I have a stalker.
"You can come out now! I know you're there."
There was a rustle of leaves to my far right and I turned towards it. Footsteps came closer to me and I hurriedly placed my sunglasses back on.
"Hey, you don't have to do that. I wanted to come apologize for what I said earlier."
I felt a smile tug on my lips but, kept them straight.
"It's no problem. How was you supposed to know I was actually blind? Consider it water under the bridge."
I started walking back to where I laid my equipment and whistled for Sam. Her paws trudged through the leaves and she sat beside my legs. I heard a slight intake of breath come from her and wondered what was wrong. I furrowed my eyebrows but, remained silent before realizing I hadn't introduced myself.
"Oh sorry. I'm uh Gabriel Garcia. I'm Javi's nephew."
I didn't hold out my hand for her to shake because I lost track of her. I waited for her to respond and felt a warm hand tug on my right hand and shook it.
"I'm Clementine Marsh. Sorry to hear you're related to Javi."
I almost didn't catch her dig at Javi because I was focusing on her smooth and warm hand but, hastily removed my hand from hers and gave a slight laugh.
"Ha, yeah he's been good so far. But, I did just meet him a couple days ago."
Sam whined beside me, as if she wanted me to introduce her too.
"Oh and this is Samantha but, she goes by Sam. She's my partner in crime. Samantha this is Clementine. Clementine meet Samantha."
"You know what, I think I hear someone calling my name. I'll see you later, Gabriel."
"Um, bye?"
She rushed off into the woods and back to the community. I was confused because I may be blind but, I'm not deaf. No one was calling her name or even calling out for her. Sam nudged my leg and I patted her head before gathering up the rest of my stuff and we headed back to my house. As soon as I walked through my front door, I was hit by an amazing smell.
Mmm, smells like.....steak and potatoes?
I walked towards the smell and found a plate loaded down with food on it laying on my counter in the kitchen. I placed my stuff on the ground and felt around for silverware but, found a something small and with buttons on the side.
A voice recorder?
I felt around on the buttons and found the play button. I pressed it down and waited for the recording to play.
"How the fuck do I know it's recording? Whatever. Uh hey, Gabriel. It's Clementine and I just wanted to apologize again for the blind comment and brought you some food from dinner tonight. I'll see you later. I mean you won't see me but, fuck. Forget I said see and I'll talk to you later. Okay, bye."
I laughed at the recording and how flustered she sounded. I placed the recorder down and sat down on my couch to eat the food. It was the best fucking steak I have ever had and I fed half of it to Sam because I could just feel her watching me like a hawk. After a few minutes, me and Sam had devoured the whole plate of food and we went to bed. The last thought on my mind was Clementine and about our encounter.
Maybe she isn't so bad after all.
