Forgive, Forget, And Move On

"Kate? You're alive? But, how? David said he threw you in a hole and threw away the hole."

I felt my bed sink under her weight as she sat down and heard a sniffle.

"Yeah, he kept me in an abandoned well in Richmond. Your friends were running by when I hollered at for them. Javi saved me from the well and brought me back here with you guys. Gabe, I can't even begin to explain how awful I've felt since that day we left you. I'm sorry. I wanted to go back and find you but, David wouldn't let me. I'm sorry."

By the time she's finished, Kate is full on sobbing. I cringe internally because I hate it when people cry in front of me, I'm not exactly the best at consoling people. But, I still reach out for her and she latches on to me. My shirt is soaking wet in no time and I pat her back before finally speaking.

"I know, Kate. David told me how you wanted to go back and look for me. I know that you realized the mistakes you made and I'm willing to forgive you."

I feel her back off of me for a bit and sniffle loudly.

"But, after everything I've done to you. How will ever forgive me for all that?"

"You know what? I'll make you a deal. If you help me out on this situation I'm having, we'll call it even and leave everything in the past and move forward."

"Anything, I'll help you with anything and everything. Just name it."

I smile lightly and begin explaining my problem.

"Well, you see, there's this girl that I like."

Time Skip: 2 Days

I've never been more nervous in my whole life. Kate has been helping me prepare for Clementine's return and I plan on confessing everything to her. I've went over what I plan to say to her so many times and I think I'm finally ready. Javi decided to help too because he said something about his OTP finally getting together, whatever the hell that means.

"Okay, Gabe. Are you ready? She should be here any minute now. Tripp said she arrived a while ago but, went to go change and shower."

I nod my head and lay back on the bed I've been in. So, here's our plan. I'm going to pretend like I'm still asleep and wait for Clementine to come see me. Javi said something about how it's going to be romantic and shit so, I went along with it. Kate seemed skeptical but, let Javi plan everything because she still thinks I'm mad at her. But, when Clem comes to see me, I'll wake up and she'll be surprised and shocked. Then, I'm supposed to profess my undying love for her and live happily ever after. Can you tell that Javi planned this?

"Gabe, here she comes! Remember, pretend to sleep, wake up, profess your undying love, and do the dirty. Me and Kate will be in the room next door, good luck."

"Wait, what?!"

I'm met with silence and lay back down and wait for Clementine. I fight down my blush that appeared from Javi's statement and pray that it goes away before she sees it. I hear light footsteps approach me and then I smell vanilla.

Clementine.

The bed sinks in beside me and I hold my breath when she starts to speak to me.

"Hey, Gabe. I just got back from a two day run with Maggie and Glenn. We got a bunch of stuff for the community and guess what? I found you a new cane and a pair of sunglasses. Your old cane was broke by David's people and I wanted to replace it."

Clementine stops speaking and I thought she might've been lost in thought or something but, then I hear a whimper.

Oh fuck me. She's crying.

"I'm so sorry about Sam. I tried to stop them but, they put me in chains and made me watch. I told Sam not to worry and that everything was going to be okay. She barked at and bit every guy that came near us but, there was just too many. After they were done, I made sure to remember every face that I seen and made a vow to kill every single one of them. After we were let loose, I went back and found every guy that killed and ate Sam and I made them pay for what they did."

I'm almost in tears when I hear Clementine tell me what happened to Sam but, held them back. I couldn't blow my cover now. My breathing did hitch a bit when I felt Clementine lay down beside me and pull me into a hug but, she didn't seem to notice. I felt her fingers run through my hair and suppressed a shiver that threatened to go down my spine.

"You know, some guy asked me out when we first came to Alexandria. His name is Ron and I said no. I said no because I'm waiting on you to get your ass out of this coma and take me on a date, kiss me, and hold me."

I hear her let out a sigh and hold me tighter before I feel a pair of lips on my cheek. It's a quick peck but, it still almost made my heart stop.

"I also said no because I kinda love you? I don't know, I've never felt like this around anyone. Every time you would smile in my direction, I would blush like a mad woman. Every touch would send my heart racing. And I would do anything just to get your attention. Do you fucking know how hard it is to make a move on a blind person? I finally stopped sending winks and flirtatious looks your way when I realized what I was doing and who I was doing it to. So, I resorted to touching you every chance I get and I'm pretty sure it worked because you would alway blush bright red."

I heard her sigh once more and lean up off of the bed. I slightly panicked because she was about to leave and I would miss my shot. I coughed slightly and grumbled a few words. It worked because Clementine was at my side in a flash.

"Gabe?! Are you awake?"

I slowly opened my non working eyes and leaned closer to her.

"Yeah. I love you too, Clem."

I put each of my hands on either side of her face and pulled her into a kiss. I missed the first time and kissed her nose but, played it off and moved down to her lips.
