It's been two weeks since I gained my vision back and it's simply amazing. The colors in this dead world are breathtaking to me and I never miss a sunrise or sunset. I took them for granted when I had my vision from before but, I'll never do it again. I lose myself when looking at the flowers in Carol's garden she has and it never fails to get me in a fantastic mood. However, there is one thing that is so beautiful that I can't look away from.
My girlfriend, Clementine.
Everything about her captivates my attention. Her honey colored eyes that glimmer when she looks at me, her perfectly natural curly hair that looks and feels so soft, the scars on her body call out to me to trace them with my tongue, and her perfect body that fits perfectly with mine. I smile to myself when I remember that she's mine and only mine.
"Hey, Gabe. Why are you smiling like you just won the World Series?"
I turn to Javi who's looking at me with a knowing smirk and return the smile before going back to lifting the stack of boards. We were fixing the gate that was damaged by the storm last night. Spring was coming and with it came strong storms. I placed the 2x4 against a hole and waited for Javi to hammer it into place.
"Just thinking, Javi. Hey, how are you and Kate doing?"
Javi sputtered his words for a moment, taken back by my question before quickly hammering the board into place. I smiled cheekily at him and Javi recovered from his momentary spasm.
"Um, just fine. How did you know?"
"I'm not blind anymore and I'm certainly not stupid. The looks you two give each other are pretty gross but, I'm happy that you guys are happy."
"Well, you and Clementine aren't exactly PG with the looks either."
I laugh at his comment and that's where our lovely conversation ends. We finish up with the gate and grab some sandwiches for lunch that Kate made us. We make small talk about the community and how far along we've come. The sun was high in the sky and the temperature started to rise. I was about to remark to Javi that it was getting pretty toasty out when a shout caught my attention.
"Gabe! Come here! Hurry!"
It was Clementine and she sounded like she was in trouble. I quickly stood from my seat on the table and bolted to our house. Javi saying something like hurry back and damn kids but, I didn't worry about it. Me and Clementine's house was right beside the gate and I was inside in no time.
Yes, me and Clementine share a house. I liked living with her and she seemed to enjoy having me around so, we moved into a house together.
"Clementine! Where are you?"
"Upstairs in the bathroom! Hurry!"
I sprinted up the stairs and barged into the bathroom before coming to a stop. Clementine was standing on top of the toilet covered in a only a small towel and shakily pointing her gun at that bathtub. I stepped closer and cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Clem, what's wrong?"
Her eyes snapped to me and she gestured with her gun at the bathtub before speaking.
"It's in the fucking bath. Kill it or I'll blow a goddamn hole in the bath!"
I frown at her before walking over and looking in the tub. A small and furry looking spider was crawling near the drain. I looked back at Clementine and seen that she was still pointing her gun at it.
"Clementine, let's just put the gun down. I'll kill it and then you can take your bath, okay?"
Clementine looked skeptical at me but, put her gun down anyways. I smiled at her and placed my shoe in the tub before squishing the little spider. I grabbed some toilet paper before picking it up and throwing it away. I turned back to Clem to tell her it was dead but, found her lips attacking mine. She was still standing on top of the toilet and I had to crane my neck upwards a bit to kiss her back. Her arms wrapped around my neck and placed my around her towel covered waist. We broke apart for air and I smiled up at her.
"Not that I'm complaining but, what was that for?"
She kissed me once more on the cheek and twirled my hair around her fingers.
"For saving me from that horrendous creature."
"Mmm, I would love to see what I get if I kill a cockroach."
Her laughter rang out and I couldn't help but to join her. We stayed like that for a couple of minutes and Clementine leaned down once more but, not to kiss me.
"Hey, Gabe."
"Yeah, babe?"
Her face flushed at the nickname and I gave her a smirk. However, she returned my smirk and leaned closer to my ear. My breathing hitched as I felt her lips on my ear and her breath was hot against it.
"Unless you want to join me for a bath, I advise you to leave the room."
"Shit, oh sorry. I'll just be going then. Sorry."
I stumbled away from Clementine and out of the bathroom and turned to go down the stairs. I heard Clem jump down from the toilet and shut the door halfway but, not before speaking to me.
"I'll just leave this unlocked in case I need your help again."
And then I heard her towel drop and the water turn on. I closed my eyes and prepared myself to go down the stairs and back outside.
It's not the only thing that's turned on.
I heard Clementine's laughter once more and realized I said that out loud. I smacked my head and dashed down the stairs and outside, needing to have fresh air and clear my head. I ran past Javi who was waiting outside the house for me and quirked an eyebrow at my flushed face.
"I don't even want to know what she wanted."
