I'm startled awake the next morning when I hear my alarm go off at seven-thirty in the morning. I hadn't realized I fell asleep last night. I am surprised when I wake up, rubbing my eyes, and yawning and see that I am safely wrapped in my own covers in my own bed in my own room. I don't ever remember coming home last night. I would have noticed if someone was carrying me as well. Slightly confused, I decide I would ask Natalie when I come back from classes. She has her first class at seven, so she was already out the door I suppose.
I slowly get out of bed and walk towards the mirror hanging from the closet door. I look at myself in the mirror and notice my eyes are all red and bags were formed right under them. I rub my eyes hoping that they would go away but they didn't. I scan my body down noticing I'm also not wearing the clothes I was previously wearing last night, but my favorite pair of navy blue sweatpants of Caspar's and a white t-shirt of his.
I begin to take off the clothes and smelling them realizing his intoxicating scent is still on the fabric. As confused as I am, I forget all about last night and decide to get dressed. When I pull the sweats down, I notice a large bruise on the side of my leg. I gasp and yelp when I begin to touch it, noticing the yellow and purple coloring. How the fuck did I get this? What the fuck happened last night?
Scared, I quickly pull on a pair of jeans and a tank top along with a light jacket. I skip doing my hair and makeup and grab my bag from the corner of my room. Once I make sure that all my things are in my bag, I'm ready to go.
It takes me around twenty minutes to get to my Literature class and once I get there i only have a few minutes to spare. I really need to start getting here earlier because I always miss the good spots to sit at.
I take a seat in the back of the classroom, deciding I don't really want to participate much today. When class begins, Professor Callaghan walks in and greets everyone. He is holding his briefcase and a cup of coffee in his hand from coffee and tea house. He smiles as he sets them down on the desk and begins to get ready for today's lesson.
As he is handing a few papers out, a girl I have never seen before walks in and sits next to me. She has really long blonde hair and wore a ton of heavy black makeup. She was wearing short shorts and a long sleeve shirt. She was only carrying a purse and she began to text on her phone, not greeting me or anything. I roll my eyes at her and turn back my attention to the Professor.
Once he reaches our desk, he notices that the new girl has kicked her feet up on the desk and still hasn't peeled her eyes off of her phone. He clears his throat and throws her feet off the desk and hands her a paper, and stops before handing me one.
"You must be the new girl, Alice. Welcome to Literature Alice, but as you have noticed this isn't a High School class. There will be no slacking in my classroom as well as having your cell phone out. I would appreciate if you would put it away and look at the handout I just gave you and prepare for today's lesson on The Great Gatsby. I will give you a piece of paper to go to the library to check the book out after class. Welcome."
She snickers and kicks her feet back up on the desk and takes the paper from the desk and begins to crumple it. What a bitch.
The Professor ignores her rude behavior and walks next to me and smiles. He was one of my favorite teachers.
"How are you today, Jae?" He asks sweetly and hands me the paper. I grab it from him and smile back.
"I've been great. I have already started the book a few day ago, so I guess I'm already ahead."
"That's great. I hope you can participate in today's discussion on the first chapter then."
He walks away and hands out the papers to the rest of the students before returning to the front of the classroom. The rude girl, Alice begins to laugh at me and begins to smack her gum really loud, making me want to walk over there and say something. Deciding against it, I ignore her and begin to start on the worksheet as the Professor starts his discussion.
